An eggcellent theropod dinosaur embryo tucked-up inside its egg in a similar position to that of a late-stage modern bird embryo. #FossilFriday
Nicknamed “Baby Yingliang”, the tiny embryo is of an oviraptorid. It is one of the most complete non-avian dinosaur embryos discovered.
A little taster of what it was like to unearth the exceptional skeleton of the 'Rutland Sea Dragon', a 10 metre long ichthyosaur. I recorded this video three years ago this week!
Much more exciting research in the pipeline. Happy #FossilFriday
Sharks and rays underwent a mass extinction with the dinosaurs etc. at the end of the Cretaceous and display a high diversity right up into the tsunami lag. Why did some survive whiles so many others did not?? #FossilFriday@divekenyon@BostonAndScout

Trilobites are extinct marine arthropods that lived ~520 – 252 million years ago. Did you know 22,000+ species of trilobites have been described? Horseshoe crabs are considered their living relatives.
From a Pompeii-like ash burial in Morocco, a new study presents 3D trilobite fossils with a remarkably well-preserved anatomy. The results point to marine volcanic ash deposits as important sites of exceptional fossil preservation.

See how Lokiceratops compares to other centrosaurines for #FossilFriday! The absence of a nose horn, huge blade-like horns, and an asymmetric spike in the middle of the frill set this fossil apart and led to new information about #dinosaur diversity.

This Friday, I’ll be speaking about the 200-year anniversary of the 1st dinosaur, Megalosaurus… with the *original* jaw!
I'm excited to be @morethanadodo to celebrate the discovery of Megalosaurus in Oxfordshire.

I am massively excited to hit *SUBMIT* on my latest book... 80,000 words later! It’s a pleasure to say that it will be illustrated by the wonderful @BobNichollsArt
This book has nearly broken me! 😅 We’ve been working on it for ~3 years. Here’s an example of Bob's beautiful art.
Wow! Our paper on the giant ichthyosaur has already had over 40,000 views.
This is why science communication and Open Access is so important.
