@CatTryfona @PeteWard7 Hi Catherine, Pete is right when he states you might have a few salts in the chimney stack given the age of your property. We would always recommend desalination of the stack to avoid trapping in salts that mask as damp,no need for any chemicals to go anywhere near your house👍.

Unlike other poultices available to purchase, Cocoon was not designed to clean. It was designed specifically to put soluble salts back into solution then extract them without introducing any chemicals to the surface/substrate returning your walls to a safe conservation salt level

The only other issue we could see is that the salts will remain in situ and ideally we would recommend basically sucking them out with our desalination poultice as an alternative to any pointless proposed damp proofing works.

It doesn’t like your sandstone house and your house isn’t all that enamoured either.

The blistering is a sign of moisture trying to leave via evaporation but can’t. Your house disintegrates beneath this impermeable layer.

There’s also acid cleaning damage and poor detailing

Thanks and please pass on that if you find a product that your researchers appears to be happy with on the outside then we would still recommend Ion Chromatography testing further into the substrates to double check the accumulated soluble salt levels before any conclusions 🤔👍

Crypotfloresence will accelerate decay and we are now seeing the results of this 20 years on. History repeating itself!

Our client was told they had a severe damp problem by some 🤡 High readings on the moisture meter were simply trapped salts masking as damp. Remedial treatments are very easy, apply our poultice to extract the salts back to a safe level for conservation purposes #solublesalts

We also have serious concerns because retrofitting insulation into pre 1919 building, changes the equilibrium of the absolute humidity allowing trapped/hidden soluble salts to go into solution, migrate and cause serious defects. Removing the salts is essential in this process
