From brainstorming to design, and fabrication through installation, decades of spatial storytelling to help your organization leave a lasting impression.
The centrepiece of our vestibule design is a high-quality map of the Livingston community, printed on a 60"x 60" piece of polished acrylic. The space comes together in a modern, bright, and colorful design that takes elements from both spaces to create something new! #yyc
Our main wall area has floor-to-ceiling vinyl, a large map panel, brochure holders, and a dimensional logo & wordmark. The Livingston wordmark is recycled from the old Hub Trailer but we added their tagline in dimensional letters to fill out the space! #livingston#yyc
In 2017, we designed and installed a show home for Livingston named the 'Hub Trailer.' In 2021, we re-used elements of the Hub trailer into the vestibule area of their new HOA building!
This weeks featured designer: Megan Wall! Megan is an Alberta University of the Arts graduate & has been working in design for over 7 years. She's collaborated with us on multiple projects including The University of Calgary History & Graduate Wall, & the Brookfield Sales Centre!
The final pieces created for the Livingston & Chinook Gate show homes were custom monitor boxes promoting โThe Studioโ, a separate entity where new homeowners can pick their finishes. Each monitor box houses touch screen monitors & have dimensional text for 'The Studio' branding!
At the Chinook Gate & Livingston show homes, we created a wall using Dibond panels with dimensional text & images, showcasing various show home features. We also created a vinyl wall with a dimensional logo to complete the space at Livingston!
After creating the displays at @BrookfieldYYC sales center in Seton, we integrated the design into two other locations: Livingston Sales Centre & the other at โThe Studioโsโ home location. Both centers feature dimensional panels & typography, custom monitor boxes, and wall vinyl!
In 2016, we assisted the Cygnus Design Group to create exterior wayfinding signage for Edmontonโs Gold Bar Park. We handled the painting & graphics while Cygnus handled assembly and installation. Each sign is made from clear-coated aluminum panels with direct printed graphics!
๐ก This week's artist spotlight is Kendel Vreeling!
Kendel started working with Westwind Design in 2014 to work on special projects throughout the years using her strong background in cultural heritage, community partnerships & visual communication design!
In addition to the stand-alone directories, we also produced & installed different wayfinding signage for the Bow Valley Squares walls & bathrooms! The designs are elegant, functional, and blend seamlessly with the rest of the buildingโs interior design elements.
๐ฌ The free-standing directories we developed for the Bow Valley Mall mimic the finishes of the buildings stainless steel & natural wood finishes. The glass is back-painted and features contour cut vinyl on the surface.
In 2016, we developed a series of wayfinding units for the Bow Valley Mall in Calgary, Alberta. The signage ranged from large free-standing directories to smaller wall & ceiling mounted units using a variety of different materials that matched the finishes found inside the mall.
๐ก This weekโs featured designer, Logan Frentz! For over 10 years, Logan has represented Westwind Design as their current VP of Design & Operations, successfully gaining the knowledge of what it takes to create human-centred interior spaces for museums & interpretive centres!
๐จ The final portion of the Seton Sales Centre, The Studio, is an area devoted to helping customers pick finishes for their new homes. We made this area clean & minimal, contrasting its neutral color palette with the more colorful section describing Seton.
๐ ๏ธ During the design process for our install in the Seton Sales Centre, it was crucial to make sure everything worked with @BrookfieldYYC's branding & space. We built out the wall to house our monitor & used wall vinyl for the map to showcase dimensional imagery & typography.
๐กIn 2020, @BrookfieldYYC was developing a new sales center in the Seton area of Calgary, Alberta, which educates people on listings available in the new community. It provides important community info, material boards & a link to another Brookfield project, The Studio! #yyc
Let's welcome Kamil Salamon to the Westwind team! Kamil graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in industrial design. Previously, Kamil had been working in medical design at the Stollery Childrenโs Hospital where he was designing protective surgical equipment! ๐๐
You can also see the @AlbertaChampion monument at night thanks to the lighting built into each of the structures. In these shots, you can also see a close-up of the custom graphics we created for the individual donors. #ABChampssociety#fieldoffame#donors#monument#yyc
