7:30 FINAL UPDATE: Our investigation is complete. There was a fire in the pottery studio. There was no extension into the building. The fire was ruled accidental. We have cleared the scene and have turned it over to building maintenance.
Westminster Fire units currently on scene at the Westminster City Park Recreation Center at 10455 Sheridan Blvd on a structure fire. Building has been evacuated. Crews are working towards full extinguishment. We will provide updates once the rec center is back open.
5:40pm UPDATE: The fire is out. Those who were evacuated will be escorted inside to get their belongings. The rec center remains otherwise closed. The Fitness Center is still open.

On January 13, 2026, just after midnight, Westminster 911 received several calls reporting a residential structure fire at 72nd and Marshall. Upon arrival, firefighters found heaving fire coming from the house. Unfortunately, two individuals were found deceased inside the home.
A third resident was transported to a local hospital.
Due to the size and intensity of the fire, a second alarm was requested to bring in additional resources. The Westminster Fire Department received automatic aid assistance from @adamscountyfire and @NMFirePIO.

The fire is currently under investigation. No further details will be released at this time. The Adam’s County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once next of kin have been notified. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, just before 4:00 pm, Westminster Fire responded to a residential fire near 80th Ave and Wolff Street. One resident was transported to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.
Another resident was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries sustained from the fire. Three Westminster Police officers were evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation. Families from two units have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Units are currently on scene at The Avalon Apartments, 10651 Westminster Boulevard, investigating smoke inside the building. Due to the large size of the building, we have numerous units on scene, investigating all possible sources. Several roads in the immediate area are closed.
