@JayzTwoCents Just heard you say "throw an SSD in an old laptop with platter drives and watch it come to life". Can confirm. Had an old Lenovo Y50 with a 5400 drive that went from unusable for browsing to ok for gaming with just an SSD. People underestimate it.
@Dave__Robinson@rice_fry Right, but would it not be easier to measure the depth directly? It's like plugging a measured state in the Kalman filter instead of an estimated one
@rice_fry And to be clear, it may not be entirely a cost thing. Spending the effort to fuse in the lidar data may never be worth it. Curious where the line is though...
@rice_fry I'm really impressed by their voxel nets. But I'm curious how cheap 3D lidar has to get before it's better to spend clock cycles on tasks other than depth estimation.
@Al_The_Camel @goosebeleafin @NHLBlackhawks To preface, I have no dog in this fight, but most people who disagree with naming an NHL team after a tribe, also strongly disagree with naming military equipment after tribes. So the answer would be "Yes."
@LinusTech@luke_lafr I write software for tractors & construction equipment. Everything you said about it is on point. IMO the biggest problem is bad programmers writing bad software and bad documentation, requiring a trained tech to parse errors. Service tools should be free
@kylekeefetv If the Avs win 7-1 tonight, one of the guys in our fan group has to get a Brazilian. We need this to happen. Can you tell the Avs to make it happen?
@LinusTech@luke_lafr Anecdotally, MSN Messenger was hugely popular in Canada, but AIM was much more popular in the US. I had to switch from MSN to AIM when I moved from Ontario to NC back in 2002, because nobody had even heard of MSN.
