@_Credible_Hulk If you read the thread, its not even that it doesn't count, but the value of the stock itself doesn't count. The person still owns a share of the real capital under it.
Apparently if if you just make your companies joint stock companies or public companies you are never a capitalist because you just own stock, of course this is a category mistake. He misreads that Marx claims the VALUE of the stock is the fictitious capital, not the claim the stock represents. Elon musk, Warren Buffett et al would not be capitalists once their companies are publicly traded under this definition @_Credible_Hulk
@AshPapillon@tankienetrunner warlords in counties who steal food may be seeking a benefit in the broadest sense possible but to claim it’s capitalist seeking to create some fake notion of artificial scarcity is silly
This says the value of the stock is the fake capital not the capital the claim represents. Take a partnership in a company, you would not argue they are not capitalist. Now convert that into a publicity held company, the value of the stock is fictitious capital but the people are still capitalists because the stock represents real capital
@bordigaparty@NotMagaior This again conflates the value of the stock with the ownership of the assets the stock represents, it even explicitly states it is talking about the value of the stock itself
@bordigaparty My favorite type of communist of the one who misrepresents the depth, and then claims Elon musk is not a capitalist because he holds shares in companies
@bordigaparty This misinterprets the issue. The stock is fictitious capital in this scenario but the ownership claim the stock represents to the company is real capital
@Dr_nkBear No, its something that we didnt have way back then. Healthcare and other non pay compensation is because of payroll taxes. You and your employer get more bang for your buck with non pay compenstion.
@Dr_nkBear That is above productivity differences. The claim that benefits do not keep up with productivity hides 2 things.
It uses different inflation metrics and does not count non pay compensation, such as healthcare.
@souljagoyteller The USSR killed its own citizens INCLUDING preventing them from leaving to seek food elsewhere, Trump, as much as I dislike him, is just not helping other countries who can help themselves or seek aid elsewhere.
That is not the same thing
@NJCentrist Tell that to the teachers who are getting 50k bonuses thanks to taxes from them, or the communities who have all new things from their tax revenue
