For those asking "how could this happen" and "why aren't the police/authorities more prepared": This is who our system is designed to protect. This is what Black folks & other communities of color mean about a system that prioritizes white supremacy above all else
Let's talk about BRT! (🚌 Rapid Tranist)
Previous efforts to bring BRT to Chicago have failed because of a lack of political will and follow-through. Now is the perfect time to bring it back to center stage
Take our BRT survey to help us do that

Brandon Johnson defeated Paul Vallas to become the next mayor of Chicago, a stunning rebuke of the political establishment by the unapologetically progressive Cook County commissioner whose campaign themes of racial justice and uplifting the working class caught fire.
We want to know what you think. We are releasing a survey to learn more about how you currently use the lakefront parks, your travel habits, and what you envision for the future of the lakefront. The survey takes 10-20 minutes to complete.

Families in Illinois who need the most help are getting just a fraction of child support payments. How much? In 2020 parents paid $56M in child support, but only $2.4M made it to the kids. We can change this broken system!

And listen I drive too! I get that this is an infrastructure problem too and reliability/safety are reasons why people choose to drive over bike/walk/transit. But this can't be the only way forward. It's awful for everyone and puts people's lives at risk
2 days in a row I've almost been hit by a car while on side streets/in bike lanes. I'm aggressively cautious when I bike, and research every route to minimize traffic/accident chances where I'd be blamed. I'm physically fine but tired of our streets prioritizing cars
If you need a comment script: Our houseless neighbors deserve a safe place to live. Housing instability is at the root of many of our challenges, and we have the resources to tackle this. As a homeowner, I am in favor of a tax that only affects the largest $1M+ real estate sales
This proposal would create a tax on real estate sales $1M+ to help fund initiatives for people fighting homelessness. It makes a ton of sense and they need our support/signatures to bring it to the mayor / city officials
For 3 years, who have made attempts to work with the Mayor to create significant and dedicated revenue to house and provide wraparound services for those experiencing homelessness. The time is now! Sign our letter to the Mayor to express your support https://t.co/RmFmdHJhGl

Chicagoans! Plz take a second to fill this out and share how recent CTA/transit struggles have impacted you. Public transit is a lifeline for our city/communities and we deserve for it to be reliable, safe, expansive, and affordable
Thank you for engaging with the RTA as we plan for the future of transit to improve your experience. 🚇 Today is your last chance to weigh in! Tell us your thoughts about #PublicTransportation by taking our survey here: https://t.co/ovWX5v1oYY
the push against transgender people, politically, has moved very quickly from "we have to keep sports fair" to "your existence is illegal now"
lots of people who study politics noted this was likely to happen but were dismissed as alarmist
Hey @CDRosa! Would love to see your support this :-D. Tried to send the form email but it kept listing me as the wrong ward. Citywide sidewalk plowing makes a lot of sense for safety, equity, and accessibility
Winter is coming – and we all know that means snow & ice creating dangerous or impassable sidewalks. The policy of having property owners clear them doesn’t work.
That’s why we’re calling on Chicago to #PlowTheSidewalks, making sidewalk snow and ice removal a municipal service.
A few years ago I decided to start biking again after an accident in college. It was slow going (and still is scary for me), but I biked 200+ miles last month and just participated in my first @ChiCritMass. Feeling proud and excited!
