2/10: Web3 is built on decentralization. Unlike Web2’s centralized servers, Web3 spreads data across nodes globally and this helps in preventing single entry point of failure as if one nodes fail others continue the work. #Blockchain

3/10: It ditches trust-based models reliant on middlemen and brokers(agents, banks) which has proven unsustainable in some situations. Web3 presents trustless models with smart contracts, self-executing code on blockchains like Ethereum. No middlemen needed. #SmartContracts

4/10: Smart Contracts automate agreements. Legally, this raises questions.

5/10: Web3 introduces a new financial system which has revolutionalised the financial world with seamless performance of transactions across borders. Defi enables cross-border transactions seamlessly, cutting fees and delays. This has made sending money to family abroad without bankfees. #Defi

6/10: This growing industry has lifted millions of people from poverty and has helped a lot with poverty alleviation in undeveloped or third world countries and also helped to improve on the already good standard of living in developed countries and super advanced countries of the world. It's worth noting that Web3 enhances living standards with innovation. #Web3Impact

7/10: It enables a fully decentralized and democratic model of governance. DAOs(Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) let communities vote via code.
This is particularly useful in decision making and allows for a new governance model that prioritizes accountability and transparency. #DAO

8/10: Self executing smart contracts could streamline govenance eg in transparent aid distribution, resource allocation, and all other areas that have been riddled with corrupt practices. But then the society still need legal frameworks to ensure fairness especially in undeserved regions. #BlockchainGovernance

9/10: Web3’s early adoption already shows endless benefits: financial inclusion, better governance model, poverty alleviation transparency and accountability. As wheezardofweb3, I’ll be sharing my journey insights, how web3 can solve real life issues with long-lasting solutions and how law might fit in. Follow along! #Web3

Week 4 – My Journey @Web3Bridge 📝

Week 4 was all about writing smart contracts and putting Solidity fundamentals into practice. With the guidance of our mentor for week 4&5 @Josh_dfg, we learned how to:
🔹 Declare state variables & functions in contracts
🔹 Work with structs, arrays, and mappings
🔹 Implement custom errors for better debugging
🔹 Use libraries & interfaces effectively

For practice, we built and deployed:
✅ A Todo-list contract
✅ A Student Management contract
✅ An Employee Access contract

Each project deepened my understanding of Solidity and showed how real-world use cases can be translated into smart contracts.

🚨 There’s a large-scale supply chain attack in progress: the NPM account of a reputable developer has been compromised. The affected packages have already been downloaded over 1 billion times, meaning the entire JavaScript ecosystem may be at risk.

The malicious payload works by silently swapping crypto addresses on the fly to steal funds.

If you use a hardware wallet, pay attention to every transaction before signing and you're safe.

If you don’t use a hardware wallet, refrain from making any on-chain transactions for now.

It’s still unclear whether the attacker is also stealing seeds from software wallets directly at this stage.

Week 3 – My Journey @Web3Bridge

Week 3 started with our regular town hall meeting led by the Chief Mechanic @Ebunayo08. With his usual wit and humor, he encouraged us to trust the process instead of rushing into hackathons. His words were clear: focus on learning Solidity deeply, become good at what we do first, and then opportunities will follow.

Afterwards, our mentor for the week, @Haramide, took over the session. One thing about her, she has an amazing work ethic. She constantly drills us to put in the work, explains concepts in-depth, and makes sure we don’t just “know” but also understand.

In week 3, she introduced us to:

🔹 Dapps & Web3 Architecture
🔹 Smart Contract ABI and how it’s used to interact with contracts

She then gave us an assignment to deploy a contract on Remix, generate the ABI, and build a simple Message Dapp. The Dapp required connecting to MetaMask, allowing users to set and get messages, with wallet signatures for confirmation. I completed the task together with my friends in Avanlanche room and even gave a live presentation in class the next day. After my presentation, I gave a big shoutout to my crew and room mates at Avanlanche and from then on, our mentor @Haramide started calling us the “Avalanche Guys” all week 😅.

From there, we shifted gears into development frameworks.
We learned how to:

🔹 Install and set up Hardhat
🔹 Initialize and explore Foundry (using foundryup & forge init)
🔹 Deploy locally using Hardhat
🔹 Use Node Package Manager (NPM) to manage dependencies

We practiced by deploying a Storage Contract:
✅ First on Hardhat localhost
✅ Then to Lisk
✅ Then as assignments, to Ethereum Sepolia and CoreDAO
✅ Finally, another assignment to deploy to any chain of our choice where my Avalanche roommates and I chose Avalanche.

That Avalanche deployment was no joke 😅. We pulled an all-nighter, laptops open, debugging, retrying, encouraging each other. It was tough, but our grit and teamwork paid off, we got it deployed successfully. That night cemented the nickname Avalanche Guys for real.

We rounded off the week diving into Solidity fundamentals:
🔹 Value types (like uint, bool, address)
🔹 Reference types (like arrays, structs, mappings)
🔹 How memory, storage and calldata differ

And finally… we ended with a difficult, nerve-racking test 😬. It was challenging, but also a clear reminder that every bit of effort counts in this journey.

✨ Week 3 taught me not just code, but collaboration, persistence, and the importance of mentors like @Haramide who push you harder than you’d push yourself.

Week 2 – My Journey @Web3Bridge ⚡️

Week 2 was all about diving deeper into Ethereum accounts and transactions.

Here’s what I learned under the guidance of our mentor for week 2 @BAbraham_92

🔹 Difference between Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) & Contract Accounts
 • EOAs are controlled by private keys
 • Contract accounts run on code

🔹 How transactions are signed, sent, and validated on Ethereum

🔹 Gas fees which are the “fuel” that powers Ethereum’s engine, where cost depends on computational work plus network demand

🔹 The structure of Ethereum from blocks, to the decentralized ledger, to how EOAs & transactions make both simple transfers and complex smart contracts possible.

We also explored EIPs (Ethereum Improvement Proposals), and I even presented on EIP-3156 (Flash Loan Standard) which earned me the nickname Flashloan from my friends and cohortmates 😅.

It’s just week 9, but honestly, it feels like I’ve spent 2 years immersed in the blockchain ecosystem. The pace, the depth, and the community make the learning curve both intense and rewarding.

Here’s a breakdown of my journey so far 👇

Week 1: My Journey at Web3Bridge 🚀

My journey @Web3Bridge kicked off with a deep dive into the world of Blockchain led by our mentor for week 1 @FrankyEjezie

In Week 1:

🔹 Learned what Distributed ledgers & Blockchain really are and why decentralization matters.

🔹 Explored what smart contracts are and how consensus mechanisms secure and govern the network.

🔹 Studied the basics of Bitcoin & Ethereum as pioneers of Web3 and their respective whitepapers.
Also got the opportunity to publish my first article on how Ethereum’s DAOs & DePINs fix Nigeria’s NGO transparency & infrastructure woes at: https://t.co/7Cn0e5iMgY

🔹 Discussed real-world use cases that make blockchain revolutionary which includes Decentralised Applications (Dapps), Decentralised finance (Defi) among ors and also ran my first Ethereum light node on Geth a moment where theory met practice and I felt like I was truly stepping into the Blockchain world.

It was eye-opening to see how this technology goes beyond hype, it’s about trustless systems, transparency, and ownership.

Truly, Web3Bridge makes you feel like you’re compressing years of knowledge into weeks. Excited for what’s ahead!

The decline of Nigeria’s economy, with families now spending 59% of income on food like the staggering N250 egg price paints a grim picture of a nation once brimming with promise.
Root causes lies in bad policies, implementation woes, corruption eroding resources, and global price hikes, as the World Bank duly noted.
The 2024 calcium deficiency crisis and decades of malnutrition signal a systemic failure that outpaces reforms like subsidy cuts.
This begs the question can a nation survive when survival itself is a luxury?
A solution? Prioritize transparent governance and enforce accountability only then might the end of this tunnel emerge.

This breakdown is really an eye opener!
It’s not just about the price tag, wage power tells the real story. Imagine a Nigerian worker skipping meals to afford that Coke, while a U.S. worker barely notices. Makes one wonder: are we measuring value or survival? Great food for thought.
Let’s push for wages that match our hustle!
