Whispering Light began with bold sweeps of abstract colour and collaged patterned papers from which the details of flowers and leaves slowly emerged. I worked back into the surface with drawing and fluid paint marks, allowing the piece to evolve intuitively. I wanted this painting to have a sense of soft light and space that would be calming and uplifting. The flowers are based on Rosebay Willowherb (fireweed) which have an incredibly varied structure as they change through the seasons. Original painting available https://t.co/2iXH9odIOC
I'll tell you how the sun rose. A ribbon at a time.

I have always loved Appaloosa horses but this is my first every go at painting one.
The second pic is my grandad. Learnt to ride in his 60's. One of 21 children from the East End of London.
One thing Spain does very well is laundry.
Not the washing — the presentation. Sheets hanging between buildings like temporary architecture, while someone’s grandmother quietly supervises the street from the shade.
