Relief by SEBI in ESM Rules -

New ESM2 Entry rule adds one additional condition -

Only those stocks can go to ESM2 which are -
Either loss making or PE > 2 X Nifty 500 PE ratio ( currently 49.4 )

So, if a stock is profit making and PE ratio is less than 49.4 - It can’t go to ESM2 , no matter the price appreciation.

One more change is in exit criteria from ESM2 -

Earlier if a stock appreciates more than 8% in a month while remaining in ESM2 - it will remain in ESM2 and can’t go to ESM1

But now, this 8% threshold is increased to 15%

Overall, less chance of entry into ESM2 and even if it enters ESM2 , it can come out relatively easier than before.

🔥ESM RULE AMENDMENT – From 28 JULY 2025 (Stocks moving to ESM2 will become very few 👍since stock p/e has to be >2 Times p/e of NIFTY500 or BSE500)

NIFTY500 p/e =24.7 (as on 25.07.2025)
BSE500p/e=25.4 (as on 25.07.2025)

🔸 Change in rule for moving stocks from ESM1 to ESM2

If stock in ESM1 has moved 15% in 5 consecutive days or 30% in 1 month, it will be moved to ESM2 as per old rule.

As per new rule, a stock in ESM1 will be moved to ESM2, ONLY IF the PE of the stock is more than 2 times PE of NIFTY 500 index (if stock is NSE listed) or more than 2 times PE of BSE 500 index (if stock is BSE listed)

(If PE of stock is Zero or Negative also, it will be moved to ESM2. To take care of crap stocks)

👍This should save lot of stocks which have NOT reached high valuation but only price action happened, from entering ESM2

🔸Change in Rule of Movement of stocks from ESM2 to ESM1

The terrible rule that stocks in ESM2 will move to ESM1 only if the monthly price rise is less than 8% is revised to 15%. This will help faster exit from ESM2, after competing 30 days inside it.
