@bigrichiefr @FranklinVH2 I think we agree then? We should use any means possible to attempt to stop this genocide. There is no justification for the horrors taking place there
@bigrichiefr @FranklinVH2 But how else are they supposed to affect change?
It worked with South Africa, so why wouldn't people follow the same logic?
It's not as if folk can fly over and start joining in, we're a democratic society and protest has historically been woven into it
@caseyjo68535308@HelenStevenson4@nigel_whittle Yeah okay, we can blame the parents.
Now, the King has an insane amount of wealth and could easily fund social programmes and transfer wealth to combat poverty levels.
But he doesn't, and so we have children growing up malnourished and hungry.
@Augustusfourth @PrinceOfShroom@toluaclake The way I would view it is that James himself has an equal position of power in a physical sense. So it evens out the power dynamic, and it's completely fine to have different viewpoints! It's a very complex grey situation and everyone will weigh aspects differently
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake I'm not silencing you? I'm trying to understand your perspective. If people don't share viewpoints then we don't understand each other.
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake Yeah, it is grey, and that's why I don't think Mary is abusive??? Cause she's literally on her deathbed and lashing out in a state of fear
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake Like, I'm not trying to be a dick and I'm being respectful, I'm sharing links to back up my position. I assess abuse and risk every day, and frameworks are needed to navigate a VERY complex social world. Otherwise victims go unseen and unsupported
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake I don't think it's fair to say 'people like me'. I supported a woman in fleeing an abusive relationship this week, alongside her two children.
I don't mean to undermine your lived experience, I'm trying to communicate the framework how abuse is identified
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake If we dont examine the power dynamics of an abusive relationship then perpetrators have more space to sabotage the survivor and attempt to position themselves as the victim

Looking at a relationship through a lense of power and control is how abuse is identified, assessed and investigated.
This is why a survivor resisting abuse is not abusive in turn.
@PrinceOfShroom @Augustusfourth @toluaclake I was viewing it more from the domestic violence perspective which does necessitate a position of power. This may be a cultural difference. anyone can abuse anyone, verbally or physically. I was thinking of it from a consistent, gender based violence lense
