We just don’t know how long Disney will have the US distribution rights, and it’s *possible* an early end to that agreement might be negotiated. We’ll just have wait and see.

@brian_damage Yes, there must be a some time limitations on the agreements, certainly in terms of distribution rights. As you say, I doubt the BBC would have tied themselves up in perpetuity.

@brian_damage In the UK there is no such “hold” on it, it’s down to the BBC to distribute it (for streaming on the iPlayer and physical media which came out very soon after broadcast). And no Disney logo 😀

@brian_damage Oh, sorry, misunderstood you. Yes, this series is definitely still tied to Disney, and in fact the reason it’s taken so long to come out on physical media is due to the Disney insistence on having it as a streaming exclusive for a year. In the US it’s a Disney distribution thing.

@brian_damage That logo is still being used across all books, magazines, audios, the 2027 annual and calendars. It has a longer history than the Disney era and is the “current logo” for the BBC themselves. But yes, those last two series will remain part owned by Disney (unless renegotiated)

@ASexyBiscuit It’s still the new 4K master, so will look better than the previous Blu-ray. But in HD not UHD as it’s a Blu-ray not a 4K disc. Many people do not have 4K players so this Blu-ray release is the next best thing.
