Doctor Who, 2005: "The Doctor doesn't need to change their clothes to fit into a historical setting."
Doctor Who, 2024, with a budget: "Eight hundred costume changes!"
@TheMetalWhovian I can't find the clip anymore but I remember when Tom was promoting it and he waved his copy and said, "It's a marvelous book, I really must read it at some point!"
@WhovianLife For Russell to go on a BBC show, after so much radio silence, and say "I'd love to tell you but the BBC are holding things up" makes me think that press release approval is about to get dramatically accelerated...

The thing about these kinds of Gen AI use cases is that the BBC could have easily made this video before these tools existed - you could do it with actors in makeup, you could do it with traditional VFX.
The fact that you're only doing it now means you only thought it was worth doing once the cost was essentially zero. That is to say, the content's existence has become a tacit acknowledgement of its own worthlessness.

@SquadalaGuy2 Ehh the liminal space between Christmas and New Year I suppose. Probably just because I first saw it when UK Gold showed it on loop over Christmas 2005.
@starwarsteen678 I believe this is a two-part special release by Big Finish due next year to end their Torchwood audio range. We don't know much else at this point but here's hoping for a bonus feature to go along with the release that's been hitherto absent... https://t.co/cmzqTgDIRg
