If there was a Chris Rufo of the left who could make strategic decisions and actually marshall action, she would say right now that defending Platner is not only important as the best way for Dems to win the Maine Senate seat, but also is strategically imperative in order to strip the party establishment of the most potent tool it wields against the left, weaponized identity politics.

Demonstrating that that cancel-dog no longer hunts will require party bosses to argue on the merits. And the party base wants Platner's platform, not that of Mills, who has blocked more progressive change in Maine than she has supported. They fear a level playing field.

Remember that cancel culture/ID politics was supercharged by the Hillary Clinton campaign, which argued that, okay, yes, you might like Bernie's platform but his young male supporters are white and male and angry and racist and sexist and did we mention white and male. That cynical gambit sent the party spiraling into the ditch it's in now.

Strip them of that weapon and all that's left is their big donors, who grassroots Dems hate and can match dollar-for-dollar with small contributions.

When I found out that the so-called leader of the House Democrats, Hakeem Jeffries voted yes on a resolution to honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk, it disturbed me.

Hakeem voted to honor a man who spent his whole life being a hateful racist, tearing down Blacks and marginalized people.

So, our Democratic leadership decides to bow down and co-sign a measure that gives a day of recognition to a dedicated racist?

If there ever was a time to show your backbone, this was it. This wasn't about empathy or sympathy. The honoree didn't believe in it. It was about showing your mettle as a leader.

The Republicans really don't need to oppose the Democrats. We're gonna do it for them. For me, this was a very weak thing to do. The "Turning the Cheek" days are long gone. Republicans don't give a damn about your kindness, only weakness.

At this point, the Republicans are asserting their will on the Democrats and we're allowing it.

One thing for sure is that the Democrats need leadership who aren't afraid and refuse to avert their eyes from their racist opposition.

The calls for violence & civil war you see online in the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk assassination, are being pushed by troll & influence networks based in Israel, Russia, Iran and India. They are all trying to get you to go kill your neighbour, and further destabilize the USA.
