If you actually took the time it took you to spew out this tone deaf comment to look through the posts from the laid of devs sharing what they worked on, youd have known how much ACTUAL talent was lost. People that have NOTHING to do with your accusations.
We have heard from devs in the last year that they've been desperately wanting to put out the content we have been begging for for years but was CONSISTENTLY turned down by their leadership for those asks not being high enough ROI to be worth spending dev time on.
Your frustration with the handling of D2 is justified but your targeting of venting that frustration is misplaced. We've all recently verified that it's the LEADERSHIP that wasn't listening. The LEADERSHIP that continued to chase a path and product the consumer didn't want. And the LEADERSHIP that turned down these devs who wanted the same things as us.
The devs who made the amazing raids and dungeons, music, vfx, iconography, sound effects, animations, etc are all no where near the blame you think they hold. They have basically ZERO say over what they were ALLOWED to work on. They could only do what they were instructed and greenlit to do.
So take that blind, hateful shit of a comment and gtfo until youve done some hw on how all this shit actually works. Players like you are a disgrace to the D2 community.
@RenzoTheHomo@SirJessums Great Girros would be a sick alpha monster in Wilds' pack system. This seemed like the precursor to it given his reliance on the minion Girros swarming with him
It’s time to say thank you.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to all the devs at Bungie who poured their heart and soul into this game and this community. Destiny is one of a kind. We are forever grateful.
To some of the higher ups, we have a different message. But we’ll save that for another day.
You can literally just scroll through the bungie layoff feed right now and see who was let go and what they worked on. Stuff completely unrelated to any agenda and have the portfolio of some amazing work. Stuff like the cinematics, music, sound design, RAD, VFX, etc etc. All that have been absolutely solid for most, if not all, of Destiny's lifespan. But go off with assumptions I guess.
I feel like you're trying your best to "lead" me to something like "woke" or something? I genuinely don't know and you're not being forthcoming with your point so I'm going to assume yes. When we both know the real answer is "shitty AAA leadership". But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt to actually state your point instead of beating around the bush in case I was presumptious.
@Dunn_Goofed@Onepeg@BaddieStreams I didn't say saturated companies. I said the industry is saturated with *unemployed* talent. The companies, if anything, are far from saturated at this point after all the fat trimming.
@RealMrClutch@splashymcsplash Even if they revisit the IP at a later date, they let go all the talent that MADE the IP as good as it was. It won't be the same, much like modern Halo isn't the same.
@KnightUvTime@Zpwiz@Ryan_Gilliam15 Yea, we'll def need the numbers to confirm, but from what I've heard from estimations (done by calculating their employee's pay over the decade) it's between 1-2B. So, even if it was 3B if being generous, they're already in the clear months before launch.
If you walked around the world with your eyes and ears open like you claim to be doing, you would have seen that the gaming industry is SATURATED with laid off and new talent. With many companies going through their own layoffs or completely being shutdown. Having a job in this industry is something you try to hold ONTO not jump ship when there are rumors of things not going your way.
We also have zero idea how much these devs were actively looking, interviewing, etc before their time came. You're putting a lot of blame on a large group of individuals who you know nothing about other than "they worked in games and got laid off".
@KnightUvTime@Zpwiz@Ryan_Gilliam15 I would argue that's less to "account for the cost" of the game and more "how much more profit can we squeeze out" of the game.
ugh, I hate that this may sound like I'm defending him, I'm not, but TimeWastedOnDestiny strips out time in orbit, the tower, and loading screens. So that is 100h+ of actual gameplay, not what his total "gametime" is.
For example, my account has 3330h in it, according to steam, but TWOD shows 1750h (I fucked around in the tower a LOT lol)
You seem to be putting a lot of weight into "popularity" as a success metric.
To a company, PROFIT is the only, true measure of success. If the company had zero people talk about the game, but they still made profit, it's still a success. Would they love for people to rave about their game or blow past their dev costs in the first month? Of course, but profit is profit. That's all they care about.
It's a failure when the trending sales shows no sign of making up dev costs.
@Zpwiz@Ryan_Gilliam15 While I agree with your post for the most part, GTA6 has reportdedly already sold 39M, leading to 3B in revenue on preorders alone...but they are the exception in the industry
@KennyBoi95@dane_golang@PaulTassi@Asmongold@Bungie These are mainly 400 devs. Not leadership. People who had very little, to zero, say in those decisions. So no, they didn't "do this to themselves". They got shafted by their management.
You're trying to justify the layoff of the creators for the poor decisions of their C-suite.
