Our fundamental mission is to revolutionize global connectivity and eliminate the digital divide. Core to this mission is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
SpaceX is manufacturing tens of thousands of Starlink kits a day—all right here in the United States—and we are making huge investments in PCB manufacturing and silicon packaging to expand even further.
Problem is this incentives people to run tire tread dangerously low.
I think car registration is probably the best time to do it and it should be based on its gross axle weight for all vehicles including gas cars. Road damage correlates to the 4th power of axle weight.
This incentives people to avoid oversized trucks/suvs (because gross weight) and taxes based on the most important factor.
@AJamesMcCarthy@elonmusk Most power plants, including nuclear, would produce similar amounts of power if you used their land area for solar but solar is clean and much cheaper. Nuclear has a place in northern latitudes but it's not really competitive where solar is abundant
Just 10 months after opening our factory in Bastrop, Texas, the Starlink team there has built 1 million Starlink Standard kits!
The team is ramping production to meet the surging demand for high-speed internet around the world 🛰️🌎❤️
The first Starships to Mars will launch in 2 years when the next Earth-Mars transfer window opens.
These will be uncrewed to test the reliability of landing intact on Mars. If those landings go well, then the first crewed flights to Mars will be in 4 years.
Flight rate will grow exponentially from there, with the goal of building a self-sustaining city in about 20 years. Being multiplanetary will vastly increase the probable lifespan of consciousness, as we will no longer have all our eggs, literally and metabolically, on one planet.
@Gaslit_Nation@farzyness The government is the essentially a giant corrupt corporation with and you think taking more money from productive businesses (where the wealthiest people hold their wealth) and giving it too the government is a good idea?
@aNichiporchik@UnpluggedTesla@SawyerMerritt Will almost certainly require the range extender. I'm thinking around 300mi with range extender. Obviously range will be better or worse depending on tires, terrain, speed, etc. I think this will be great for swat or national guard
The amount of work required to simplify the Raptor engine, internalize secondary flow paths and add regenerative cooling for exposed components was staggering.
As a result Raptor 3 doesn’t require any heat shield, eliminating heat shield mass & complexity, as well as the fire suppression system.
It is also lighter, has more thrust and has higher efficiency than Raptor 2.
Truly, a work of art.
@compulyze @elonmusk To launch the rocket again you need a crane and a tower to stack stages and refuel. Landing at the tower allows you to skip several steps and delete the landing legs. This requires precision but nothing that can't be accomplished by good engineering and a little extra fuel
