An Israeli reservist told the Wall Street Journal that when Gaza was pushed into an Israeli-caused famine over the summer, Israeli military-escorted “humanitarian” convoys were sent to anti-Hamas militias carrying food, water, cigarettes and sealed boxes with unknown contents.

The Wall Street Journal detailed how Israel continues to back these militias with intelligence, drone support, weapons, and aid to target Hamas with Israeli officers openly describing their direct involvement.

“When they are going and doing activities against Hamas, we are there to watch them and some of the time to help,” said Yaron Buskila, a former senior operations officer in the Israeli military’s Gaza division. “It means helping them with information… we are actively getting involved.”

Some of these militias operate in parts of Gaza that Israeli forces are prohibited from entering under the ceasefire agreement, allowing Israel to circumvent those restrictions through armed proxies.
