At CXL, we’re deploying @wildmeorg's Scout software and AI tools to help inventory sequoias and detect new infestations for potential treatments, with support from @PJMFdn.
Let’s also celebrate this day by protecting the trees we already have!
We’re proud to support the conservation of species like the jaguar. Through our technologies, @WildMeORG and Sentinel, we monitor and protect these majestic animals in Peru, Costa Rica, and beyond.
Excited to see @TheTechInteract showcase how AI helps wildlife conservation, featuring the Giraffe Conservation Foundation & the giraffe-focused Wildbook, GiraffeSpotter! 🦒

We’re celebrating a major milestone for our @WildMeORG lab: yesterday marked the largest single-day expansion of species in Wildbook history, with 25 new species, many of them small wild cats, now supported across the platform!
While whale sharks and yellow-bellied toads topped our data leaderboad last week, we also added new support for Striped dolphins in https://t.co/YXqSYNUTEN and Amur tigers in https://t.co/U9ebAs2kTu. We use the same MiewID v3 AI model to tell apart individuals for both species!
Spinner dolphins (Stenella longirostris) topped last week's data leaderboard at Wildbook. Known for their acrobatics, they can spin up to seven times with each leap. Spinner dolphins are one of 62 species served in https://t.co/YXqSYNUTEN.
Zebras, whale sharks, and lots of giraffe! Data growth across Wildbook species and users remains strong in 2025. This past week's uploads are no exception, and we added new species support for dwarf (Kogia sima) and pygmy sperm whales (Kogia breviceps) in https://t.co/YXqSYNUlPf.
If you're at the @aaas meeting today, come catch our discussion of AI and community science, with Laura Trouille of @the_zooniverse, Firas Katib of @Foldit, myself, and moderated by AAAS Fellow Robert Mathieu!
Starting at 2:30pm in Room 311
Our final weekly metrics report of 2024! This year we saw a 30% increase in total encounters and a 28% increase in known individual animals. What an amazing year of growth for the scientists and conservationists using Wildbook!
New paper! We've just published a manuscript covering technical details of the AI models behind @WildInsights, with systematic analysis at scale of cropping vs not cropping in #CameraTrap image classifiers 🫎🦌🦒🦘🪿🫏🐘🐫🦬🦛🐿️

We're thrilled to see harbor seals (Phoca vitulina) on last week's data leaderboard across all Wildbooks! https://t.co/3cgTqMzb8F is a growing, multispecies platform that we're excited to bring to a global research and conservation community.🦒🦭🦎
This was a great panel to participate in!! Thank you to Tanya Berger-Wolf, my fellow @ABC_ClimateCtr PI, for convening and moderating this diverse and inspiring group! It was an honor to discuss AI and Biodiversity with leaders from @GEOBON_org@stri_panama@ETH_en and @ramboll
The Angolan giraffe - a.k.a. "Smokey" or Namibian giraffe - topped our data leaderboard last week. Sand tiger sharks also appeared in the top 4. A common thread: the new MiewID v3 AI model is used to identify individuals from both. We'll be announcing its capabilities soon!
Funding for scaling and iteratively improving conservation technology solutions is often missing in our ecosystem. We love @WILDLABSNET's recognition of the "BORING" work that we all need to do to succeed together.
Introducing The Boring Fund.
Alongside @Arm, we’re supporting the essential but overlooked aspects of conservation technology—the “boring” initiatives that build a more resilient and effective #conservationtech ecosystem.

Our Chief Data Officer and Director of @WildMeORG, Jason Holmberg, recently appeared on the Pawsitive Podcast to explore a fascinating topic: Can AI really help save endangered species?
"Every photo has the potential to fill a gap, add to a story, and make a difference :)"
Well said @SeadragonSearch! Their community-focused, individual seadragon tracking program is a joy to watch, and we are proud to support them in Wildbook!
Happy International Whale Shark Day! Wild Me's journey began with whale shark photo ID and applying computer vision. We continue this project today with modern AI in https://t.co/Py5WUzjzsY and support a global cadre of researchers tracking this massively migratory shark!
Today we celebrate the gentle whale shark. As the largest fish in the sea & 1 of only 3 filter-feeding sharks, they are one of a kind. Listed as Endangered by the IUCN, they are in need of further protection. Happy International Whale Shark Day! More info: https://t.co/GUrVjdcbxl
Chital deer (Axis axis) led data growth in Wildbook last week. We're learning how to efficiently process very high volumes of camera trapping data, which is valuable experience as we grow and optimize functionality for many species and data collection tools. 🦌🦒🐕
