Racster Dingwall sentenced today for trying to kill a legally-protected hen harrier.
Dingwall, the twin brother of Molly Dingwall who is general manager of the Jockeys Club, was caught by covert filming carried out by the RSPB on Grassington Moor.
Dingwall pleaded guilty to both offences today (Thursday 29 January 2026) at York Magistratesโ Court where he was ordered to pay a total of ยฃ1,520 in fines, victim surcharge and prosecution costs.
This is a paltry punishment for the illegal persecution of our protected birds of prey, and whilst the prosecution is welcomed, what sort of deterrent is such a pathetic fine for these estates with such deep pockets?

@RaptorPersUK Seems a disaster of a sentence. This should have been an ideal chance for a jail sentence as a long-awaited deterrent to the regular killing of hen harriers. Hope he was at least sacked.
Look at the legend that is @WriterHannahBT... just look at her!! ๐

Scotland has just passed Swift bricks into law, and Hannah is the major reason for this huge win for nature! ๐๐๐ฆ
Congratulations Hannah, we're all so proud of you! ๐ช๐โค๏ธ๐
๐จ Bottom trawling is still allowed in ~95% of Scotlandโs waters, including marine PROTECTED areas
This highly destructive fishing is continuing to destroy habitats and threaten livelihoods. Real protection means banning it from all ocean havens, NOW!

What more demonstrates intent than hiding the evidence and robbing the camera which your crime was filmed on?
On Saturday the South Dorset Hunt killed this fox and then robbed the camera. Police were called and retrieved the Sabโs property containing the footage of the kill.
The law once again let this poor animal down, this animal and many more like them have been savagely ripped apart by hunt hounds and hunts will never face justice.
There is only us.
Help us to end hunting, we are calling on the government to adopt our recommendations into their upcoming ban on trail hunting including the introduction of a โRecklessness Clauseโ which, if in place now, could have brought some semblance of justice for this fox.

If you want to have a look at a private landholding inside a national park with lots of wildlife on a tiny budget compared with public land and nature reserves you are all welcome to come and visit me here. And there are literally millions of acres in Scotland similar to me, privately owned, delivering for nature, and working with limited resources but working at scale with both private and public partners. Itโs important to get the full story. That way we get it right going forward. So before everyone uses their biases to dis private landholdings, etc etc come and visit and get the fully story. Unless of course that spoils your tired trope narratives. Please donโt take my word for it though - visit and see for yourself. Then we can discuss.

Dodgy ethics aside, no need to worry about the mandatory biosecurity measures that everyone, including gamebird shoot managers, are supposed to comply with, eh? #AvianFlu

At Bournemouth Crown Court, BSV member Kieron Fookes pleaded guilty to theft
This is the 15th conviction since 2023 of people connected to this hunt.
Yesterday at Bournemouth Crown Court, Blackmore and Sparkford Vale Hunt member Kieron Fookes pleaded guilty to theft. On 7th December 2023 five thugs surrounded the lone female sab on Cannings Court Lane, Pulham, and cowardly Fookes snatched the sab's radio from behind.
The whole Portman Hunt field watched the killing of a fox today and convicted huntsman Shaun Marles blew his horn to hunt the hounds on right up until the moment of the kill. @DorsetMonitor
https://t.co/mAWhazzff2 Hunting with dogs has always been a pet hate of mine. It is disappointing (and disgraceful) when some police forces don't play their part in investigating what is mostly criminality.
