Hello and welcome to my public Twitter thing. Going to be tweeting about Politics, History, Disinformation and any other news which interests me.
I apologise in advance for the eventual long threads of tweets about my opinion of current events.
@samarie82 Oh for sure the money isn't there at the moment and this definitely isn't something we can start next semester - we struggle with edu as it currently is. Govt initiatives should drive the creation of content on the types of misinf, the ways it's displayed, and the overall risk.
#IFLpanel In my opinion, regulation can only go so far to limit misinformation. Education, spread across all levels in society from school courses to simply adverts on TV, can solve the misinformation crisis and achieve far more. This also allows use on an international scale.
Regulation takes far longer to update and adapt to changes, whilst education can stay relevant as misinformation adapts to the contemporary global climate and events. How can regulation, through all the research, international politics, and paperwork, keep up with misinformation?
This @DehennaDavison doesn't agree or hasn't voted for an awful lot of Tory policies. Don't think she knows which party she is running for #BBCQuestionTime
Yesterday I informed Sir Graham Brady that, in light of recent events, I had withdrawn my support for Boris Johnson.
Number 10 has announced that the Prime Minister plans to resign. I believe this is the right thing to do, and is in the nationβs best interests.

@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK do you think that these policies will be weakened? Do you believe a line will be removed between free speech and disinformation on Twitter or whether Elon is the type of person to understand the dangers of disinformation?
@RestIsPolitics@campbellclaret@RoryStewartUK Hi both, love the podcast! Twitter has had to update their disinformation policies especially following the 2020 US Election, most notably by banning Trump from the platform. With Elon's takeover of Twitter and his strong aim to allow free speech

@RestIsPolitics@RoryStewartUK@campbellclaret Hi both, loving the podcast! I'm a recent History and Int Relations grad with an interest in disinformation. Just wondered about your opinions surrounding the subject and the global prevalence of it. Do you think it should be regulated harshly despite free speech concerns? Thanks
Too many commentators are blaming the Afghan government/people. This is on us. We did not need to leave so recklessly and suddenly. US and NATO air support was vital, relatively low risk, and sustainable. We could and should have continued support. We are betraying Afghanistan.
Some really good points made tonight. I agree that US and UK air superiority is still needed to both deter the Taliban and reassure the populace that we still support them despite not being there. However, if we start dropping bombs carelessly again, it may have adverse effects.
Going to try to start and keep learning Arabic regularly again. Are there any better apps than DuoLingo or shall I get the basics there and move to a better app afterwards? #langtwt
