Reading @RickRubin’s Creative Act Book. And can’t help but see the new @oliviarodrigo + @taylorswift13 songs ‘get him back!’ + ‘imgonnagetyouback’ through the lens of this concept.

Seems both artists were tuned into the same wavelength, and what we got is the same idea being expressed through separate filters.

The two songs play with the same concept, even the same play on words — but personally listening to them next to each other made me gain a lot of respect for @oliviarodrigo as a songwriter. IMO her interpretation is less muddy. More on point.

Kiss his face with an uppercut > break his bike.

Break his heart and stitch it back up > flip you off.

I love both artists, but these songs next to each other show just how great Rodrigo can be.

Civil War Movie: Super well done. Worth seeing in IMAX. Sound engineering on par w Dune 2 for best I’ve ever heard.

Rare to see a movie that benefits from LESS context. IMO the only thing holding it back from a masterpiece was going no context at all. The goal of any context should have been to confuse us in our current context — as it would highlight the true message of the film, which was “clean up your shit, you don’t want this”.
