Someone just told me that 35 is "too old" to start building on π. π΄π»
lmao
That's wild to me.

You know what's actually too old?
When you've drawn your last breath. β οΈ
Anything earlier than that is just an excuse driven by fear and avoidance.

The biggest killer of success is never starting at all.
Your best content is still ahead of you. π¨π»βπ»
Your biggest wins are still coming. π₯
But only if you stop waiting and start building. βοΈ

@KevinSzabo14 Yes.
This is such a fundamental truth, yet so many seem to miss it entirely.
Communication, in general, is the key to success, and writing is the highest leverage form of communication that exists.
@AlexFinn Thanks for these tips, Alex!
Going to work through them & make sure that I take them into account with my agents as well.
Always appreciate you looking out & helping us benefit from all the testing & iteration you do with your tools every day.
Youβre a real one, my friend.
This is the best advice there is, with regards to the setting and subsequent achievement of goals.
You donβt even have to break down the entire process into individual steps and small goals, all at once.
All you really need to do is to figure out what the very next action you need to take is, and then do that one thing. Once youβre done with that, you just rinse and repeat until you get to your destination.
Working on your goals like this has the added benefit of allowing you the opportunity to reflect on what youβve done and how it has worked out for you, so far, before you decide on each next action to take; as such, youβll be able to adjust your approach and course correct, all along the way, which, if done correctly, will help you get where youβre going in the most effective and efficient way possible, while avoiding any unnecessary detours and distractions on the way.
Makes sense and couldnβt be more straightforward.
Curious about how you think of each of these different service categories, and what type of writing output you are thinking of as being part of each of them, Kevin.
In my mind, these all overlap with each other pretty significantly, and especially when thinking about writing things that are intended, specifically, for π.
Once we broaden the pool of potential target destinations, I can see each one being more distinct, depending on the offer, but they still have fuzzy edges, even then, for me.
Anyhow, just interested to hear how you, and anyone else here, thinks about these service offerings/categories, and also whether there are any more that you would add to the list of potential services that writers might consider offering to potential clients here on π (or anywhere else, for that matter).
Exactly.
Thereβs no doubt about it; the first ask is, generally, pretty anxiety producing, at least before you do itβ¦
But, once you get the first one (or first few) out of the way, it will get easier, and if you are intentional about it and you pay close attention to what works and what doesnβt in each interaction you have, you will, eventually, find an approach and a rhythm that works for you.
Then, keep at it and, in time, the whole thing will become second nature, and will end up being no different than having a conversation with someone in person.
But⦠you have to be willing to push through the resistance and start doing it, before it feels ok, trusting the process and putting in the work, despite the initial discomfort, and for however long it takes to start paying off and start feeling less uncomfortable.
Just remember, if you donβt ask, they canβt say, βyes!β
Thanks for this reminder, Kevin.
As someone who is still working on building the large audience he intends to have in the future, this is helpful and encouraging.
Itβs not always easy to stay grounded in this truth, when so much of social media is focused on numbers; whether itβs impressions, likes, bookmarks, shares, reposts, followers, or whatever else, the focus is almost never on what actually matters for business owners.
Youβre entirely right about this.
@hovinthenorth@AunySillyMe Yep. This is the truth.
Build/grow it in silence and then tell the world about it when itβs ready.
Or donβtβ¦ some things are just for us, and thatβs ok.
Exactly. π―
I think the vast majority of us are just over the whole fake perfection thing, at this point.
Most of us are looking for real connections these days, and the ones we want to hang with are generally the people who are living imperfect lives, just like us, and who are still showing up, doing their best, same as we are.
Truth.
Weβre in the era of authenticity.
People are over the fake perfection, the lack of integrity, and the endless posturing that has run rampant throughout the entire social media space for years.
Itβs just not it anymore.
Weβre all out here looking for something real and hoping to make some genuine connections with others who are doing the same.
