Parry, who has links to #Stotfold near #Hitchin, #Sandy and #Knebworth as well as #Chatteris in #Cambridgeshire, pleaded guilty to the non-accidental physical abuse of the dog called Belle.
The young dog was found to have sustained rib fractures on at least three separate occasions and had also suffered partial lung collapse.
The case came to light after Belle was taken for veterinary treatment with Parry telling the vet that she had become incontinent after a walk and became weak while he was bathing her and fell in the bath.
Belle was then transferred to another vets and placed in an oxygen tent.
An expert witness who examined the notes from the case said in their report: “The x-ray showed chronologies of rib injury with the rib fractures showing varying degrees of healing .. "
The vet added: "it is highly likely that ‘Belle’ had sustained a focal blunt force trauma to the right side of her chest resulting in a non-displaced rib fracture and damage to her functional lung tissue.”
The vet concluded: “In my opinion ‘Belle’ has been caused to suffer as a consequence of physical abuse resulting in fractured ribs on at least three separate occasions.
“Suffering will have been experienced by this animal via mechanisms of fear, distress and pain. Suffering via pain would have persisted for a period of at least 7 days on the 2 previous occasions and for a period of at least 24 hours on 17/4/23.”
In mitigation the court heard Parry, who runs a fledgling mail order company, was "suffering with his mental health" and had drug and alcohol addictions.
Speaking after the case Inspector Caroline Richardson said: “Thankfully despite all Belle has endured I am pleased to say she recovered well in RSPCA care and has now been rehomed to a loving family.
“I hope the sentence sends out a strong message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in our society and if prosecuted, those will face severe punishment.”
Sentencing | 15 week prison sentence suspended for 12 months; six month alcohol treatment progamme plus 10 days of rehabilitation activity; £300 costs. Lifetime ban.

The Bulldog, named Wilson, was left without food or water in Thompson’s former home in the #Tuebrook area of Liverpool. Thompson “took no responsibility” for the dog’s death and claimed a friend had been going in to look after him.
Wilson’s bloated body was discovered in the property in Grange Street, Tuebrook, in November 2023 by a housing association worker.
The body, which was decomposing and covered in fleas, had been wrapped in a blanket and placed in a box in the lounge.
RSPCA Inspector Nadine Pengilly tracked Thompson down on January 26, 2024.
Thompson confirmed in a phone call from the inspector that Wilson was his dog. The inspector said Thompson told her that he worked away from home for three to four months at a time and “had a friend looking after Wilson”.
A vet said in her expert report: “Wilson’s body had slowly shut down and although in the absence of a post-mortem it is impossible to know the cause of death, being abandoned with no access to food or water is likely to have caused or contributed to his death.
“In this case I can’t be sure if water was provided or if food was provided intermittently, but it is likely the dog didn’t have any food or water for a minimum of two weeks and probably likely longer.”
Thompson, a business owner with six active companies in the fields of transportation, recruitment and hot tub rental listed at Companies House, failed to attend the court hearing and was convicted in his absence.
Sentencing | 21-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months; community order with 15 days of ‘rehabilitation’; victim surcharge of £154. 10-year ban applicable to all animals.

Sentencing | jailed for six months, suspended for 18 months with supervision requirements. He is banned indefinitely from having dogs, with a minimum five-year disqualification.
In a 30-minute attack which took place in an M&S car park in #Plymouth, Simmons whipped one dog with a metal lead and stabbed her four times with a golf umbrella, leading to her passing out.
He then whipped and stabbed the other dog as she was tied to railings, before he tipped the contents of a dog bowl over her head.
Simmons then stamped forcefully on one of the dog's heads 17 times.
The attack, which was caught on CCTV, stopped when two people heard thuds and squealing and confronted Simmons who had strangled one of the dogs by her collar.
The dogs were subsequently rehomed, the court heard.
Simmons, who had been homeless at the time of the attack but now lives in Bath, has previous convictions for violence that did not involve animals.
Judge Matthew Turner said it had been a "prolonged but isolated incident" involving "significant force" but said Simmons' life was very different now to how it had been in late 2023.
