No reporter has done more to expose not only the crimes of Epstein but his ability to bend the political system to his will with his money than Julie Brown. Without her you may have never even heard of Epstein. She’s a true hero and still working the case.
At this point Ann Richards may as well be an ancient mythological creature. To overlook 30 years of Republican rule in our state and blame school funding on Dems is completely retarded.
McElroy is pointing out what we’ve talked about for months with Texas.
Sarkisian and Co. call plays as if they can protect.
And anyone with a pair of eyes that’s watched them this season knows they can’t.
"It would be a disservice to our sport if this team is not a playoff team."
Steve Sarkisian made his case for why No. 16 Texas should be in the College Football Playoff 😤
1 "restore public safety... Safe neighborhoods are the foundation"
2 "make infrastructure investment a core value... Every major project is behind schedule"
3 "practice fiscal discipline... That means setting priorities"
4 "increase transparency. Taxpayers deserve to see where their dollars go"

"We are strapped for revenue and we have to be entrepreneurial," Council Member Chito Vela said. "We have to take every bit of revenue that we can. ... Anyone that has been in the restaurant business realizes what a large portion of revenues and profits comes from alcohol sales."
If Austin City Council is truly committed to making Austin affordable, they must abandon their plans for a Tax Rate Election in November. Raising property taxes is a short-sighted response to the city’s financial challenges, ignoring the economic pressures already facing residents.
Austinites experience the highest non-mortgage debt of any major US city, averaging $45,920 per person (far above the Texas average of $44,451, and even farther above the national average of $37,827). Auto loans, student loans, credit cards, and personal loans weigh heavily on our community, yet the Council proposes to pile on more financial strain. This isn’t leadership. It’s a betrayal of the people they serve.
The city’s declining sales tax revenue, which has been cooling since early 2023 with sharp drops in 2025, signals a struggling local economy. Unlike surrounding cities, Austin’s revenue problem is unique, reflecting a failure to foster economic growth. Instead of addressing this head-on with strategies to boost consumer spending and revitalize local businesses, the City Council lays blame and opts for the easy way out: taxing residents more.
This approach stifles productivity and goodwill, effectively punishing Austinites for the City Manager's irresponsible budget proposal. Increasing property taxes feels like extortion when the Council could be finding ways to stimulate organic revenue through a thriving economy.
Austin’s affordability crisis is undeniable. Rent for a one-bedroom apartment averages $1,446 (higher than Dallas $1,378, San Antonio $1,285, Houston $1,166). Renters, who don’t benefit from homestead exemptions, will face the brunt of landlords passing on tax increases, making it even harder to stay in the city. For many, the only option will be to leave, eroding Austin’s vibrancy and diversity. Homeowners, already stretched thin, will face the same bleak choice to pay more or pack up.
This isn’t just a matter of balancing numbers on a ledger. How the city chooses to prioritize programs and fund the government risks displacing the very people who make Austin unique.
The City Council makes empty promises when they speak of prioritizing affordability. Their budget discussions acknowledge the city’s needs: public safety, homeless solutions, green spaces, electricity and water, but residents see failed policy year after year. Council Members fail to offer plans to address these issues without burdening residents.
Transparency is meaningless if it leads to the same outcome, higher taxes that push Austinites to the breaking point. The City Council’s claim that a maximum tax rate is just a ceiling, not a guarantee, inspires little confidence when they’ve signaled their intent to raise rates to the legal limit. Residents don’t trust this restraint, and for good reason.
Austin deserves better. The City Council must reject the Tax Rate Election and focus on real solutions: cutting wasteful spending, addressing the sales tax revenue decline, and fostering economic growth that benefits everyone, not just special interests and partisan politics.
Join me in demanding that the City Council abandon this tax increase and commit to keeping Austin affordable. Speak out at public meetings, contact your council members, talk to your neighbors. Make your voice heard.
Y’all - I wanna stop and highlight some of the amazing human kindness taking place as tragedy unfolds in Kerrville. This little restaurant, Grape Juice, has turned its kitchen towards serving those in need as crisis shelters fill up - serving 2k sandwiches so far.
@GenMoultrie1776 It’s not an engineered storm. It’s the left overs of Tropical Storm Barry coming in land and meeting dry air systems and stalling over Texas. There’s been lives lost and communities destroyed , so take your conspiracy shit elsewhere you moron.
@HornSports Fellow UT fans. Please don’t embarrass yourselves by saying he’s a bad kid or that UT dodged a bullet. Guaranteed $5.1M. He made the best decision for him. Get over it.
Knowing +6 was going to be safe, trying to play those last three holes at even par was a real mental challenge. Felt like a tight rope across that Penn Turnpike. I was super proud of the swings I made down the stretch, not just the execution but mentally as well.
-On 18, hit two super shots and left myself 8ft above the hole. I pretty much lagged it up there and left it 3inches short 😂
-Rory had 125 in while I had 175 in 😳. I had it a little into the wind but wowza he pounded that one.
-My prize for making the cut is 2 more rounds with this beast of a place haha. Hopefully the rain will stay away.
-Round 3 will be 9am-330 in twosomes. I think I’ll be around 1040 with Corey Conners. Draws for dayssss.
-Player hospitality beer 9/10 could have been colder
A 4th man Trump pardoned for Jan 6 arrested for rape — judge denies bond, sets June trial.
Dillon Herrington, nicknamed "MAGA Lumberjack," is charged with raping a woman who was blacked out and did not consent.
He was armed with a military knife and stun gun on Jan 6 when he assaulted Capitol Police.
Dillon Herrington threw objects at police officers, including a full water bottle, an unidentified object pulled from a box marked “Danger High Voltage,” and a 4 x 4 piece of lumber.
He pleaded guilty to assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and was sentenced to 37 months in prison — but was then arrested for rape on December 28, 2024.
That means Trump knew about the rape when he pardoned him.
