Jonathan Willing

engineering @waymo. I care about user experience. previously @youtube, @apple.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@mehul really smooth, has handled the few things i’ve tried surprisingly well. congrats!

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@TheRideshareGuy not meeting the quality bar we’d like here. will make this better.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@paularambles just for you!

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@malonehedges yeah for sure, I’ll forward to the team. you can also adjust volume in app in the meantime.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@reed @can @brianwilt @ethanteicher @Waymo y’all are too kind!

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@rjonesy @gooffkingjulian @signulll he’s right, you know. prices reflect demand.

ultimately I welcome all competitors, but it’s not reasonable to compare the price of these two services given that they’re not in the same phase of operations.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@ethanmckanna @Waymo appreciate it! feedback always welcome

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

next generation of @waymo booking flows rolling out.

lots of cool new tech here: flexible server-driven platform, fully native SwiftUI + Compose app components.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@mariovelvet @Waymo Waymo designers are next level!

@mlanett We’ve made some adjustments here over the past few months that should have fixed this, so I’m surprised to hear it’s not working as expected.

Can you DM me with more details?

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

sorry Waymo Two fans, best we can do in this economy is @Waymo

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@2irl4u stay tuned

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

this was a fun interaction to design and build. 100% SwiftUI.

@malonehedges tell me more. would you want to call a car to one of your favorite spots via shortcuts?

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@mickyabir don’t worry, fun UX is the reason some of us do what we do. we’ll keep the polish going

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@nasm423 custom Layout (with tricks to make it lazy), and ScrollView with onScrollPhaseChange and onScrollGeometryChange. need to make the content size temporarily match the screen to get the bounce feeling right.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@SebJVidal you can use a spicy hack to disable delaysContentTouches via a representable in a background within the scroll view that reads its superview tree.

agreed it would be great if it were configurable.

[Jonathan Willing @willing]

@vpdn so glad to hear it! thanks for sharing.
