It’s so confusing to me as to why everyone is talking about this like it has any objectivity whatsoever. By what measure are any of the suits “better” than the others? It’s surely just which look you prefer no?
TASM2 had such a long reign as the best suit that even tho it took like five whole suits to get one actually better they’re still calling it recency bias 💀
And it’s not even inconsistent with the rest of the movie. At several points in this movie Peter changes clothes instantaneously like a cartoon character and most seem pretty willing to suspend disbelief for that
This movie has a lot of flaws but this is an example where the movie is playing itself like a cartoon so I'm perfectly happy to treat it like a cartoon. If the film wants to pretend nobody died to justify a big beautiful action set piece I'm happy to pretend too
@ch_ezey It’s an important distinction to make that TASM2 especially warrants more scrutiny than most other SM films because of the issues it has, but you’re absolutely right in that by extension people tend to be harsher on it
I feel like in any other movie this kinda creative oversight would be something that’s simply pointed out, laughed about, and then moved on from. Here though, it’s almost always treated as being an intentional mark on Peter’s character and consumes 90% of this movie’s discourse.
Whether you believe people died here or not you can't disagree he was so fucking irresponsible in this movie
Bro's legit the least responsible of the 3
@spidermansw3b Also, 90% was hyperbolic. It more so infiltrates conversations surrounding Andrew’s SM’s characterisation than it does conversations on the actual movie which doesn’t really make sense to me.
@spidermansw3b This is not a recent phenomenon. This clip has easily been going round constantly for a couple years on here but the actual critique itself has been a talking point since the movie’s release. It’s not an invalid one, but it’s hardly as big a deal as people make of it imo
@KickFirework212 Yeah, I never hear anyone seriously complain about the oversight in SM2 where Otto lethally attacks Peter in the café. People are willing to excuse it as the silly, inconsequential creative oversight that it is there, but TASM2 is rarely afforded the same luxury
@potato4infamous This movie especially was more focused on being an epic spectacle than a character-driven masterpiece. Demonstrated by how this scene nails the visuals but stumbles in regards to the logic and implications the actions has on Peter’s character if you think about it too hard.
@spidermanias I completely get disliking the scene’s structure and its issues, but letting creative oversights like this affect your view of a character seems extreme to me
@Ultra__Mayhem His ‘perfect chance’ to stop Rhino is before this moment though. I get taking issue that he didn’t stop him sooner, but what’s the issue with him leaving when he literally leaves to go and save someone?
Graham Norton: what was it like on set
The Cyclops from The Odyssey: the scenery was stunning
Lee Mack: I bet you couldn't believe your eye
*Laughter, round of applause, Lee Mack & Cyclops shake hands*
Miriam Margolyes: I bet it must be hard to get parts, because of your eye
i guess i really understand why football fans are mental now because i’ve just been larping for the world cup and i feel slightly ill now that it’s all over for us
