🚨 Morgan Rogers on his altercation with Declan Rice:
🗣️ Rogers: “Declan knows what happened. That’s why I was angry.
He caught my leg and when I turned around, he was looking at me like he didn’t understand why I’d reacted. I said to him, ‘Dec, I know you know what you did. Don’t look at me like that.’
We play together for England. I know him, he knows me. If you catch somebody accidentally, normally your first reaction tells them that. You put your hand up, you apologise, whatever.
But he knew he’d caught me. For me, he knew exactly what he was doing. Then instead of acknowledging it, suddenly he’s arguing with me because I’ve reacted.
That’s what annoyed me. I told him, ‘If you’re going to do it, at least own it. Don’t do something deliberately and then stand there pretending you don’t understand why I’m angry.’
Then the referee comes over and somehow I’m the one who gets booked.
That’s the part I still don’t understand. He’s committed the foul, I’ve reacted to it, and the punishment at the end of everything is for me.
So what am I supposed to learn from that? Next time somebody does something like that, don’t react because apparently the reaction is easier to punish than what caused it.
People can watch the incident themselves. I know what I felt, and Declan knows what he did.
That’s enough for me.”
