Cineplex the company does not care about Canadian films. Why are they invested in distribution deals on movies like The Strangers franchise when they could just add a bit of elbow grease to better promote Canadian festival darlings on major screens? They’re too self conscious.

Distressing news via new @Telefilm_Canada report: Box office for Canadian films fell 40.9% in 2025 from year before, with homegrown movies capturing just 1.7% of Cdn market (down from 2.8% in 2024). 2025 was third lowest performing year of decade for Cdn film, following '20 & '22
