One operator running eight Claude sessions at once has replaced release planning with a timer.
Each push to master resets a twelve-hour clock. When master goes untouched for twelve hours, that build promotes to beta. Early access and a stable release follow on their own schedule.
Their verdict: "It's kind of beautiful. It's kind of working for me really well."
Then the limit, from the person who built it: "I feel like it's really not going to work if I just turn that loose to nine developers on our team."
A practice that works beautifully for one person can be structurally impossible for nine, and AI widens that gap rather than closing it.
Why it breaks at nine, and what an attendee at an Executive AI Roundtable suggested instead:

📚 I'm taking pre-orders for my new book starting today:
𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘵𝘰 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘢𝘢𝘚 𝘕𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘞𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘈𝘐
Sixteen years ago, I wrote 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘚𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭, 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘚𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 for developers with a day job and an itch to build something of their own.
Since then, my books have sold more than 100,000 copies.
🤖 A lot has changed since 2010. AI lets you build software in an afternoon that once took months.
But it doesn’t stop you from building something nobody wants.
It just lets you do it faster.
💸 Finding a problem people will pay to solve. Talking to customers when you’d rather be coding. Getting strangers to give you money.
Those parts still take work. And another weekend of prompting doesn't make them go away.
So I wrote the book I’d hand a founder starting from zero today:
✅ Sixteen more years of launches, wins, and expensive mistakes
✅ More than 240 SaaS investments
✅ Everything I’d tell you before you disappear into a month-long building spree
Derek Sivers wrote the foreword. His verdict:
“This is now the ultimate current authority on the subject, updated for a very different world.”

Do better AI coding tools mean you should hire fewer developers? I have my doubts.
I don't believe the large companies that blame their layoffs on AI. Having worked at large companies, I know how slowly they adopt new technology like AI.
That slowness gives a small company an opening. There are probably some very skilled developers on the market right now. Some of them may be more interested in using AI than the developers you have, and your larger competitors are still struggling to adopt it well.
What would you do with a developer on your team who refuses to use AI?

MCP servers, APIs, and command lines are fine additions to any software product in the #AI era. I don’t hear much about plugins, however.
I think a plugin architecture is a great way to offer custom behaviors in a software system, while also making migration a bit more difficult. Customers can vibe code things they care about without feeling inclined to vibe copy your entire platform.
What do you think?
Will AI lead to investor lawsuits? I think so. Leaders are responsible for the work they delegate to AI, and many of them don't understand what that work is.
Maybe the product doesn't work. Maybe the financial reporting is wrong because of a misunderstanding that AI introduced.
AI is intellectual leverage. Like financial leverage, it pays off when your assumptions are right. When they're wrong, you may find out you built mystery meat instead of the system you thought you had.
Are you aware of what your company's AI systems are doing? Are you in control of their quality?

At one of my MicroConf Europe AI roundtables in Reykjavik, a founder had started losing the use of a hand from typing into multiple Claude sessions.
Running several agents at once means writing several briefs at once, and the volume lands on the same wrists it always did.
Everyone who answered named a piece of hardware. The voice workaround carries an assumption, though, and for part of your team that assumption is wrong.
What they use, and who it leaves out: https://t.co/iirNcUAd3j

Couldn't get to Reykjavik? You'll still get the talks.
Every MicroConf Europe session was recorded, and they go up on YouTube free.

We're going back to Dubrovnik 🇭🇷
MicroConf Europe 2027 is Oct 3-5 at the Dubrovnik Hotel Palace, right on the Adriatic. It's our favorite place to hold this event, and this will be our fourth time there.
Early-bird tickets are open now:
