One of the best scenes from any series was his Cheers finale with the last call and Sam Malone standing alone in the bar, thinking back on the last 11 years of his life, and realizing: “I’m the luckiest son of a bitch on Earth.”
James Burrows is worthy of all the tributes. 🍻
RIP James Burrows, foundational director of sitcoms like Will & Grace, Friends, Taxi, Big Bang Theory and so many more. They truly don't make 'em like that anymore. The GOAT of sitcom TV. #JamesBurrows

Cheers.
The master. Without him, I don’t know how I would survive the hard days. Laughter is everything. Sitcom is everything. Travel well, Sir. May new genius be inspired by his glory. #JamesBurrows#Sitcoms
Highly recommend the #EarthWindandFire doc on @hbo. Kudos to Director/Producer @questlove for showing the band's history & the singular vision of #MauriceWhite, but also being honest about his shortcomings. Great archival footage. Will send you to the music! @EarthWindFire
James Burrows, the co-creator of "Cheers" who reigned as television’s preeminent sitcom director for more than 30 years, died on Friday. He was 85. https://t.co/drWXrDuZlE
“Jimmy Burrows was the man behind the curtain. He knew how to make us laugh, what buttons to push and was the absolute master of getting the most out of every joke. His loss to the television comedy world is immeasurable. Every time you have a smile on your face watching ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show,’ ‘Taxi, ‘Cheers,’ ‘Will & Grace,’ ‘Friends’ and countless others, think of Jimmy and know he made all our lives funnier.”

Today we remember Roger Ebert on what would have been his 84th birthday.
A compassionate, insightful film critic — and a true Chicagoan.
We miss you, Roger!
18 June 1983. Dr Sally Ride became the 1st American woman to travel in space when NASA’s space shuttle Challenger was launched into space on its 2nd mission.
How great is Matthew Rhys? One of the coolest fun actors I’ve interviewed, he’s aces at playing weirdos and killers (see him outclass Claire Danes at her most crazed in “The Beast in Me”). And he’s amazing again as the mayor of a haunted coastal town in “Widow’s Bay.” Emmy voters take note, though he already has gold for “The Americans.” He once jokingly tried to trade me that Emmy for my favorite cinema souvenir, the hat John Wayne wore in “The Searchers.” I politely declined. There are about a billion Emmys circulating, but that hat is priceless. As is Mr. Rhys. Here's my review. https://t.co/AngQuFXDCR
Sad news as former @TODAYshow, critic Gene Shalit died over the weekend. The Muppets crossed paths with Shalit many times over the years, both celebrating and lovingly poking fun at the iconic critic.

A stray cat wandered onto the stage during "Romeo and Juliet" — and became the star of the show.
It happened during the final scene of a ballet performance by the Imperial Russian Ballet Company in Turkey's Izmir last Wednesday.
Just binge-watched the final season of For All Mankind. What a great show. For my money, it’s up there with Mad Men as the best TV show of the last 26 years. If you still haven’t seen it, watch it. Five seasons of total perfection.
