@webmasterdave@elonmusk Hmmm, NIH renewed the grant in 2017, removing the GOF restriction they'd just added in 2016 in the context of experimentation on the viruses. Not referring the grant for the required GOF review in that context is extreme negligence if accidental and willful otherwise...
@webmasterdave@elonmusk Inserting novel bat coronavirus spike proteins into SARS-related viral backbones and testing them in humanized mice for infectivity and pathogenicity is enhance-and-test by design, but perhaps NIH didn't know what they were doing and EcoHealth delayed required reporting 2 years.
@webmasterdave@elonmusk Not mere disagreement. He wanted to fund GOF, OSTP *ordered* a stop due to the risk, and instead he lied on definitions to fund WIV to do it + suppressed critics and evidence. Even if he didn't cause COVID (unclear) he conspired and thus legitimized conspiracy theorizing.
@JeffLadish Is the question really scan versus not scan, or is the question more about the value of information, and the cost to obtain it via one particular method versus another?
@tracewoodgrains It's not even a violence free solution, it basically just deputized people that would have been criminals to deter criminals. Hmmm, would be pretty chaotic.
@BeStillQueen@TeedIsMe@Americanism308@ZombiRubberDuck@HarrellRyan1@HannahDCox I'm up to blame individuals, especially those who created and expanded the program. But it is descriptively true that the vast majority of surviving responsible individuals for the present problem are boomer politicians and voters that opposed privatization and insolvency fixes.
@TeedIsMe@Americanism308@ZombiRubberDuck@BeStillQueen@HarrellRyan1@HannahDCox Right, but without more and more destructive taxation, future generations also will not see what they put in, starting with genX, by default, as it was designed. It has to break somewhere, and if one is going to give to the poor, it is better to invest in them earlier in life.
@webmasterdave@elonmusk David, I am pretty sure you know Democrats who have worked in biosecurity for years that hate Fauci: you should probably talk to them about why. If you don't really know most of the biosecurity people in your social network, then maybe you should let them comment instead?
@BeStillQueen@TeedIsMe@Americanism308@ZombiRubberDuck@HarrellRyan1@HannahDCox "Deserving" is a concept for creating good incentives. No good incentives result from using desert logic to extend an intergenerational communist ponzi scheme. China spends half as much on transfer payments, despite worse demographics and more cultural reverence for the old.
