"I HAVE NO APOLOGY."
In 2001, retired Major-General Ibrahim Haruna appeared before the Oputa Panel and was questioned by Chief Anthony Mogbo, SAN, counsel for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, about the 1967 Asaba m@ss@cre.
Haruna’s response became one of the most controversial moments of the testimony.

In the next couple of months, we will have Dutch experts visit the South East to train our children in high-precision masonry, plumbing, welding, and carpentry.
We will start with these core skills and gradually expand into other relevant areas.
The first cohort will then pass on their training and knowledge to others as we scale the programme.
This is the generation that will build our society.

We compared polling-unit results uploaded to INEC's IReV portal with the declared returns in two 2023 Rivers State National Assembly races.
In the Obio/Akpor House of Representatives race, the IReV count puts Onunwor Ndamati (LP) ahead by 30,778 votes. INEC declared Chinda Kingsley Ogundu (PDP) the winner.
In the Rivers East Senate race, the IReV count puts Okwuwolu Wolu Ekelechi Benjamin (LP) ahead by 13,043. INEC's declaration gave Onyesoh Allwell Heacho (PDP) a 59,558-vote lead.
The polling units tell one story. INEC's declarations tell another.

What makes student politics in Nigeria so Nigerian?
Campaigns, alliances, godfathers and kingmakers—the world of campus politics can feel remarkably familiar.
How did student politics come to mirror the best and worst of Nigerian democracy?
Read in The Republic:
Protecting Every Vote. Winning 2027. Together.
My fellow Nigerians at home and abroad,
Over the past months, wherever I go and in your many messages, two questions keep coming up: How will our votes be protected in 2027? And how will we win?
These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers.
This Sunday, I will answer you directly, and more importantly, listen to you. I will join you for A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall. We will speak plainly about protecting every vote and the path to victory.
But this is not only about speaking to you. It is about listening to you. I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies. This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next.

I bought fuel yesterday in Toronto, Canada, at $1.7999 CAD per litre, and it cost about $98.95 CAD to fill up my tank. This should ideally last me about a week or more.
Now, the minimum wage in Canada is $17.95 CAD per hour, which means someone who works an average of 8 hours a day will earn $143.60 CAD before tax. A day's salary is enough to fuel his or her car for 2–3 weeks. This means that even one of the lowest earners in Canada can afford to own and drive a car daily without the cost of fuel becoming an overwhelming burden. Public education for children is also free and of high quality.
In Nigeria, fuel is about ₦1,300 per litre. It would cost about ₦88,000 to fill up a similar tank. The minimum wage in Nigeria is ₦70,000 per month. This means that an entire month's minimum wage cannot even fill the tank once.
A minimum-wage earner in Nigeria cannot realistically afford to own, fuel, and maintain a car. The same person still has to afford food, rent, children's education, healthcare, electricity, transportation, and other basic necessities. The list goes on.
In fact, even a bank manager in Nigeria earning ₦1 million monthly could still struggle to maintain a decent standard of living after covering these basic expenses.
This is one reason poverty is so widespread in Nigeria. The cost of basic living is simply too high relative to what the average person earns.
You don't just have an income problem in Nigeria. You have an affordability problem.
For millions of Nigerians, simply living a decent life has become too expensive and increasingly impossible.
This brings back fond memories of our many road trips across Nigeria in 2022–23 —especially the night we spent sleeping in our cars at a fueling station in the forest outside Kaiama, Kwara State.
His Excellency Peter Obi and I are still agile and fully ready for the task ahead. Are you? - RMK
