As someone who directly follows very very closely the Mecha genre is booming better than ever. Chinese Indie new properties, Bandai, Kotobukiya, all of them. Sadly shows (anime) are expensive so they have been focusing on toys and games. But its better than ever now.

Plenty are definitely still getting made won't fall for this slander. Yall just don't care and never did. Example-most of the western Gundam fans are only fans cause Wing was one of the very few shows available to watch for kids of a certain age, so it imprinted.

On a slightly lighter topic. Does it feel to anyone else like the Mecha/Giant Robot genre is dead?
Aside from the legacy series like Gundam and Eva, there hasn't really been any attempt by an anime studio to make a new original giant robot show.

@norvillerockin Exactly. Same goes for the whole narrative of "The ring is a service weapon" that keeps getting passed around. Shit is not a gun. The ring should be getting used like all the tools of any Trek series crew uses theirs. Need to scan? Use the ring. Need to call? Use the ring.

To my knowledge, if you have gone through the half decade it takes to get a bachelor you usually don't spend all that money to go looking around for baseline jobs related to 3d printing. Usually you'd be working for something next step up directly engineering/tech adjacent.

Tried to get multiple, what would be entry level, 3D Printer maintenance jobs and didn't even get my resume seen because I don't have a bachelor. GL getting people with shy of a decade knowledge in the field, have a bachelor, and won't ask to be paid crazy $$$.

@Vegapunk212 I desperately hope to be proven wrong on the extraterrestrial elements of the show because the storyline is really pulling me in. But I can't take a lick of it seriously when they are hyping up an "alien" threat, only to pull the "oh they can stay transformed even in death".

@bf_crane No jobs made/built, no schools being built (in reasonable time), no new roads or overall public infrastructure. Just more houses and cars on the road ruining everyone's life under the lie that "X is cheaper than the city".

@bf_crane We don't got small towns anymore cause companies are buying up people's literal front lawns, local governments are allowing it, then they cram as much housing/townhouses/apartments they can in whatever acres they buy. Towns of <2k increase to double digits in a handful of years.

I film so much of my everyday life on my phone. The quality is beautiful. I color grade and edit like it was shot on any other camera and I believe in using iPads as monitors. Don’t let gears and cost get in the way of telling your stories.

@CDMorlock Just on the plastics side people don't understand the extreme stark difference in quality between the plastics then to now. Much less even older. Yet we are still designing today as if they are same brittle materials. I wish I had the PETG or ASA of today back then for R2D2.

100%. I didn't go to school at all, am only 25, and for more than 10 years I have shown off the simplest 3d printing/product manufacturing techniques to people years if not decades older than me. Only to find out they had no clue what I was doing. And I am far from the smartest.

Actually he's 100% correct and this fundamental concept flies over 99.9% of people's brains. My entire career, 20 years, in product design taught me this. We make nothing and have forgotten how.

@CDMorlock I haven't been lucky enough nor have the funds to be able to use some of the more crazier printers or even sls stuff, but its truly appalling how much so many people still treat the current state of printing as such a gimmick.

Big 2026 and yet for some reason the simplest of solutions to the internal mechanics and overall attachment systems of 3d printed helmets lack simple ideas like visor frames or how to properly split parts.

Why am I using epoxy to attach a visor in still???

This isn't even a specific US vs China or whatever thing, but it is a symptom of the problem at hand.

From the even the simplest designs, people just don't think past what they can see (exterior) so the what isn't seen, is being imagined. And if not imagined then not created.
