The biggest improvements to my class discussions came when I started encouraging (then requiring) students to cite each other in their essays 🥰 #listenactively
They are re-learning that it’s not weakness to be impressed with each other. 🙌🏿
We took some time to put a fun spin on the mystery bags we’ve been doing in math. After cutting out pumpkins, each student got a mystery bag of seeds. Before gluing, Ss organized their seeds for counting. Saw some great strategies, including arrays! @Wishteaching@JessNastasi
While learning about arrays, one student mentioned that our desks were arranged in an array! Together, we found the ways we could arrange our 18 students in an array!
Love seeing my students making connections from their learning to the world!🤩👏🏼
I am thrilled to be starting a club at @SBSDGB dedicated to getting boys reading: Book Bros!
We had over 35 students sign up!
Thank you to The Jackie Pang Fund for providing us with books!
And, of course, thanks to @jodi_mahoney and @sfehte_SBSD for letting me do this!
This is true for math too! Reading Comprehension doesn’t have to be a barrier to problem solving. Interested in learning more? Email me for strategies for scaffolding reading comprehension in math. #SBSDteammath@JessNastasi@jenn_greco@mrskelly405@tarashort73
“Students may not read on grade level but that doesn’t mean they don’t think on grade level.” @hassell_joey throwing down the gauntlet that EVERY child deserves on-grade level instruction using HQIM. #Reading360Summit
How many ways can you make 72? These mathematicians represented one way on each link of their paper chain. They just kept growing! @MrK_5thGrade @jodi_mahoney @sfehte_SBSD @JessNastasi
2nd year teachers yesterday blew our minds 🤯 with their amazing ideas and questions around learning stations in math workshop. We left asking when we can hang out with them again!
Excited to meet you new SBSD teachers. We’re so glad you’re joining us and can’t wait to see everything we will accomplish TOGETHER this year. Welcome to the team!

Today, Ss played Roll and Record! After playing, we used @Google jamboard to show which number we rolled the most. We used this data to have a discussion about why some numbers were easier to roll than others! @JessNastasi@Wishteaching@jaime_maccarone @LRogolAP
In our newest Aligned blog post, a 4th grade teacher shares how he's made virtual learning more social for students. You can incorporate any of these 5 online tools into your instruction today! https://t.co/yycrFxdUuQ #teachervoice
