@johnarnold I always get a cup of coffee (black) so I’ll run in and order at the counter. The problem arises when they place you behind the complex work of art style drinks and I end up waiting ten minutes instead of them just pouring my coffee and handing it to me.
@JamesStanard@longislandviper You think Microsoft is just scratching around in the dark, clueless to whether GP is profitable because such a thing can’t be measured? Microsoft assuredly has internal measures for GP profitability, but we will never have access to such information.
@longislandviper Profitability can be warped and manipulated in many ways, and since we don’t have an income statement and balance sheet for the Xbox segment, we’re in the dark.
Common sense suggests that the ROI of GP has to be piss poor, and Microsoft’s actions here affirm that.
@Chris_Dring Say I’m Xbox and I spend $500MM to develop a game. Let’s say it sells 1MM copies a la carte, so $80MM in revenue. The rest of the engagement occurred on GP. How much money did the game make?
@DestinLegarie I think Xbox’s finances are quite bleak and their leadership views AI as the solution to improve profitability. They’re all-in on GP at this point which forces them to find ways to cut costs more aggressively. If it only attracts 35 mill subs at this price point, imagine +$10.
