OPEN STATEMENT

I have seen the conversations currently circulating on social media concerning the use of Uzoamaka Power’s likeness on the cover of my book, and I believe it is important that I address the matter myself.

First, I am the author of the book in question. There is no publisher involved in this work. It is an independently published book, which means I personally oversaw the publishing process.

Yes, I reached out to Uzoamaka Power concerning the use of her image. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response at the time. Out of excitement and, in hindsight, poor judgment, I proceeded to print the work. That was a careless mistake on my part, and I take responsibility for it.

I am not going to pretend that the situation did not happen, nor am I interested in shifting responsibility to a publisher or anyone else. I made the decision, and I acknowledge that I should have handled the matter differently.
However, I want to assure everyone that this is currently being addressed. I am already in communication with Uzoamaka Power’s team, and we are working towards an agreement and a proper resolution.

In the meantime, the cover has been changed. All new copies of the book now carry the new cover shown below, and the previous cover is no longer being used for new copies.

I understand why people are concerned about image rights, and I respect Uzoamaka Power and her team enough to work with them directly to resolve this properly.
So, please, lay your swords down for now. There is no need for further attacks, insults, or outrage on either side. This matter is already being handled directly with her team, and I am committed to correcting my mistake.

I am sorry for the oversight, and I appreciate everyone who brought the matter to my attention.
