@IamTheTozzy@NkululekoMhlaba For years CNN, BBC used to covering the "immigration debates" struggled to get to grips with the SA gvt, elites wanton use of the conclusive term xenophobia. It was the SA gvt that used the X word to as a cudgel to club into line it's citizens
@Ratshilumella@blueitserver@pmcafrica@Eskom_SA Actually the question being asked is how much of an investment case is there for investing in consumer electricity supply in SA. There is no stampede to invest in that sector.
@blueitserver@pmcafrica It’s a question of temporality. The question and goal that faced the regimes and industry before 1994 was providing electricity efficiently and a vertically integrated single supplier was deemed the best model. Times, technologies have changed but the goal has not changed.
@legaleagle841@Mr_Dark_Choc@PhutiSemenya14 It is perhaps the chilling effect brought about by Mkhwananzi’s unsubstantiated claims against the judiciary that also gave us having more than one property in SA a flight risk
@RediTlhabi Can the govt vouch how many of the hundreds of thousands if not over a million failed asylum seekers and hundreds of thousands of passport holders who did not officially exit the country self deported.
@naledimashishi Rebut the content instead of insulting. SA is ugly, violent to its own citizens. Then deputy president or President Mbeki once asked in one of his less celebrated speeches, ‘Whatever happened in the evolution of our society’ that has resulted in this propensity for violence.
@naledimashishi This is not the first spring day event and every year the complaints have been there. It is the absurdity of denialism to expect protests about service delivery failures immigration to have a different complexion devoid of often misguided militancy, latent, overt violence
@naledimashishi It is disingenuous and self serving to bring immigration into something that should long ago have been classed as assault. It also has to do with so called “authentic kasi culture.”
@naledimashishi To channel De Maistre, not only does SA think it can by lofty claims channel morality but also thinks it can write a constitution that supersedes the real constitution of the country written in the hearts of citizens. SA must look at itself in the mirror.
@AneleLekane@naledimashishi There are incongruences aplenty like expecting a society of militant violent protests and vigilantism to suddenly be “docile” because it is now protesting in furtherance of a cause we disagree with.
@naledimashishi Or when Ubuntu becomes nothing else but a false moral superiority, a slave morality. I would rather a rights based liberal disposition than the “mythical” Ubuntu.
