I'll bite today.
But BYU spent $27 million on their roster and lost round 1!!!
The parading around from USU and Utah fans is so funny to me. AJ Dybantsa is the greatest sports prospect coming from the state of Utah in history, maybe 1a/1b with Merlin Olsen. I get the jealousy.
Utah Valley lost its three best players to the portal — all going to HM schools. The Wolverines haven’t taken a step back at all — sitting at 8-3 with a double digit W over UCSB.
Todd Phillips is a brilliant coach and Utah Valley is 36th in defensive efficiency and 82nd overall in KenPom.
Point guard Trevan Leonardt is such a winner. Not a crazy scorer but he does everything needed to win games.
My feed is full of sportsbros celebrating that General Conference will no longer get in the way of the Final Four (they'll claim they're joking, but they're not really).
I’ve been arguing for a while now that sports have evolved into a form of idolatry for many, often superseding spiritual priorities. Seeing people relieved that they don't have to choose between an Apostle and a basketball game, or worse, openly prioritizing the game, just confirms that theory.
Consider this hypothetical: Imagine BYU basketball makes a run to the National Championship game. But, the game is scheduled for a Sunday. The Church holds the line on Sabbath observance and refuses to let the team play, forfeiting the title shot.
How many of you would be mad at the church and the brethren? You know what you’d do? You’d crumble. You would literally lose your minds. You’d be on here crying real tears because you couldn't watch a bunch of 19-year-olds run cardio for two hours.
@UVUmbb bounces back with a win against soon-to-be Big West foe, UC Irvine, beating the Anteaters 79 to 72.
Four Wolverines have double-digit performances, including Issac Davis’ 18 pts and Jackson Holcombe’s 12 and 12.
Next: Tues vs. South Dakota State, in Cancun. 🇲🇽
What's my spicey LDS opinion? The Californiacation of Utah will ultimately see the LDS church re-center itself in a foreign land. Most probably central or south America. Might not happen in my lifetime. But I think it will happen. Utah is being taken over by secular progressive people with lots of money and bad politics. And that's a damned shame. This used to be a sane, affordable state. But the mass influx of coastals with cash has done a number on us. 🫣😞
The latest from Lunardi's Bracketology:
BYU & Utah OUT
Utah State IN (as MWC AQ)
Aggies in as a 6 seed matched up with 11-Mizzou
Utah Valley IN (as WAC AQ)
Wolverines a 14 seed vs 3-Oregon
Both first round games in Seattle with a potential 2nd round USU-UVU meeting 👀
