Transparency International Zimbabwe is currently conducting a round table meeting with Bulawayo journalists on Corruption and Discrimination in Education and Health under the Inclusive Service Delivery in Africa (ISDA) Project. The workshop is funded by Global Affairs Canada
@takumandura unpacked how corruption in schools and health facilities often overlaps with discrimination from sextortion in recruitment and exams to illegal charges for lifesaving treatment. These practices disproportionately affect women, girls, and groups at risk of exclusion, eroding trust in essential services.
He highlighted the critical role of journalists as:
Investigators – exposing systemic corruption risks
Watchdogs – demanding accountability from institutions
Amplifiers – ensuring the voices of victims are heard
At TI Z, we believe that strengthening investigative journalism is key to ensuring that health and education services reach those who need them most, free from corruption and discrimination.
