Every sheep in the UK has to be shorn for its welfare. There is no choice. Yet the heartbreaking reality is that it often costs more to shear a sheep than the fleece is worth.
So tonnes of beautiful British wool are treated as waste, burned, buried or composted, while we fill our wardrobes with synthetic fibres made from oil that shed microplastics into our rivers and seas.
It feels as though somewhere along the way we’ve forgotten the value of the things nature gives us so generously.
British wool is warm, breathable, biodegradable, renewable and grown every single year by animals already grazing our countryside. It deserves to be treasured, not thrown away.
Perhaps the answer isn’t to produce more. Perhaps it’s to remember what we’ve always had, and start valuing natural materials, skilled craftsmanship and the people who produce them once again.

I feel sad seeing newly planted trees in London dying or dead. It doesn’t take much to come out with a watering can or bucket once or twice a week to keep them alive. Please share. Encourage people to look after what little nature we have.

Just about every friend w cancels meetings regularly because they're ill. They always say it's not Covid & it may not be. As I only meet outside I don't get the bugs they get. Whey are people so keen to huddle indoors & get ill regularly? I still don't get it.

@SGriffin_Lab I received a pneumonia vaccine the other day as I'm deemed at risk. I was asked if I'd had my flu vaccine. I have. I said I'd also had Covid (am not covered by NHS guidelines) and there was a kind of cursory nod like oh, ok, doesn't matter! Why?????

@JamesThrot @LauraMiers My husband and I experience this just about EVERY DAY when we drive out in our local area. I'd love to have some recent research on this, to show the ongoing effects. It is astonishing and very worrying.

Got my Covid vaccine at a local pharmacy yesterday. The pharmacist said she'd given lots of Covid vaccines so far, but we were the first private customers. Useful data about the state of the population.
