Our Central Region in Ames is excited to announce that we have been awarded a project at the @cityofames Water Pollution Control Facility, as the lowest bidding contractor.
Woodruff, along with the project engineer Strand Associates, will soon begin conversions to make the plant compliant with the @iowadnr's 'Iowa Nutrient Reduction Strategy' adopted in 2013, which aims to reduce nutrients in Iowa waters and the Gulf of Mexico.

Currently, we are working on 16 water treatment and wastewater treatment plants throughout the state of Iowa. These plants are essential infrastructure components that have far-reaching effects on the health, environment, economy, and overall well-being of communities they serve.
🔵 Water treatment plants ensure water supplied to communities is safe for consumption by removing harmful contaminants and pathogens. This helps prevent waterborne diseases and ensures access to clean, potable water, which is essential for maintaining public health.
🔵 Wastewater treatment plants treat sewage and other wastewater prior to releasing it back into the environment. This process removes pollutants and reduces the risk of water pollution, which can harm aquatic ecosystems, wildlife and public health.
🔵 Reliable access to clean water is essential for economic activities such as agriculture, industry, and tourism. Water treatment plants ensure a steady supply of water for these purposes, which supports economic development and enhances the quality of life for community residents.
🔵 Without proper treatment, wastewater can pose significant environmental risks, including pollution of water bodies and contamination of soil and groundwater. Wastewater treatment plants help mitigate these risks by treating sewage and industrial wastewater before discharge, reducing environmental harm and protecting natural resources.
🔵Many modern water and wastewater treatment plants incorporate sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient technologies, water recycling, and resource recovery. By embracing sustainability principles, these plants reduce their environmental footprint, conserve resources, and contribute to building more resilient and environmentally friendly communities.
On Thursday this week, our East Region Woodruff Team served up a meal to the families staying in the #RMHC of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois #IowaCity House.
The #RonaldMcDonaldHouse offers care and comfort to families while their children receive medical care, and removes the barrier of separation by providing them a "home away from home."

ESOP = Employee Stock Ownership Plan
Oktoberfest = Annual German festival
We took the liberty of combining them for our #EmployeeOwnershipMonth celebration, and held an ESOPtoberfest grill out after work on October 20th.
Each region cooked up some juicy brats and burgers, and served them alongside traditional German faire like pretzels, potato salad, sauerkraut and apple schnitzels. We provided custom steins to drink German biers, held stein holding contests, did the hammerschlagen, and challenged our colleagues in bags and pong.
We appreciate all of our Employee-Owners at Woodruff, and close out Employee Ownership Month with a huge THANK YOU to everyone's hard work and for living out our Core Values each and every day!
