@memeslich If something is NEEDED to continue the adventure, then they ALWAYS find it. The Search roll is then for extras.
“You see a map on the table. A path is outlined in red to the hidden tower!”
Player: “we try a search roll.”
“You find a small green key under the couch.”
@Gingerblast Wait till it triggers a copyright lawsuit. You can steal an idea but usually have to change names and places. I see a future where the AI snarfs a unique name, scene and place and makes it canon.
Content isn't infinite. So to give more game longevity they let you play the collector game. I generally like it, but you are right. You lose the immersion of the universe as you try to gameify the markets and missions to get rare gear.
It is going to take AI to make enough content to be able to have a universe that's filled out. Or they will need to micro slice a small section like they did in BT from HBG.
Battletech has always seemed to suffer from a lack of roleplaying. It truly wants to either be a mech simulation or a wargame.
You are like me and with it could be a CRPG or TTRPG in that universe. Something it has been very bad at for a long time. The Mechwarrior game books are pretty bad and Catalyst seems to have no interest in making them more integrated.
@Marakath@Nobleshield If you were an early fan of Magic the Gathering you can see the pattern. Editions and changes are designed to create sales. Micro changes between editions is by design.
@DanielDnDYT@Nobleshield@Marakath Bonus actions are a disaster.
Exhaustion was nerfed.
Advantage/Disadvantage was brought in, then they pasted bonuses over it.
CR is just hot trash, like interns played a card game assigning random levels.
Then WotC came in printing subclasses to pay the bills.
@Nobleshield@Marakath Some of 5e was on the right track, but you can tell it was first designed with core mechanics and then the committee came in to vote on additional items and things.
There are some forms of ceramics that can transfer heat well, but over time would require replacement and the replacements would need servicing to bring them back online. Couldn't imagine the difficulty of all that.
If the labor and equipment replacements is less than energy cost it makes sense.
@tuuu28283 The United States has amazing sights, but spread over an area 21 times the size of Japan (just the 48 continuous states, not Alaska and Hawaii).
Japan is very dense for sight seeing.
@amazinggamepro@GPaperArchitect@TheJ011yR0ger People vastly misunderstand IQ and what it is. You are on the right track. I think after 18 each +1 is pretty much another 5-10 points.
This is a good opener vieo for a series on TtRPG am esgn.
If you are like me and digging into this world more information is a good thing and Daniel doesn't ramble. Quick information and to the point.

@DrInsensitive I think about the Tec 22. That thing keyholes with a rifled barrel at 20 feet. Still a silly fun firearm even if it's kind of trash for accuracy.
While you aren't required to respond with how you are doing (it's not rude to just ignore the question), you can respond back with an answer.
I do remember in the US Army it was more formal, asking that as a greeting required an answer. Asking that to the Sgt Major was a rough time, they would either chew you up for saying it, or problem dump on you making you regret your choices.
@Nobleshield@TheEclecticGoat Light isn't bad because it adds tension for mechanics. Encumbrance isn't that fun and rations are barely a mechanic in most systems.
I wish more abstraction was done of these bean counting systems.
@HMBohemond Tornados are absolutely insane natural phenomenon. The category ratings for tornados make the wind speeds of hurricanes and typhoons look like leisurely strolls. The US plains get the higher rated tornados versus most of the world.
@kapilansh_twt PHP. That is evil in code if I ever saw it.
JavaScript is my second least favorite, just because there is so much crappy JS out there and the language has few strict rules.
