1/7 - Who was J.R.R. Tolkien? (My favorite author)
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892–1973) was a British writer, philologist, and professor, best known for creating Middle-earth, a richly detailed fictional world. Tolkien is often considered the father of modern fantasy literature. His deep love for languages, myths, and ancient cultures shaped his epic storytelling.
J.R.R. Tolkien understood that a civilization can begin to decay, fall if you will, long before its enemies breach its gates.
In his account of Gondor’s decline, the warning signs were already there before it even began to fall.
The ancestral wisdoms of old had been abandoned, great houses without children (familiar, no?), and rulers more concerned with their own monuments than with those who would come after them.
“The old wisdom borne out of the west was forsaken. Kings made tombs more splendid than the houses of the living, and counted the old names of their descent dearer than the names of their sons.” (1/3)
My neighbor drives a 12 year old Toyota.
Lives in a $350K house.
Cuts his own grass.
Eats lunch from home.
Nobody thinks he’s wealthy.
I recently found out he has $2.1M invested.
His coworker drives a $90K truck.
Lives in a $700K house and has almost nothing invested.
Looking rich and being rich are two completely different games.
@LifeofBen Genieße ihn in vollen Zügen. It´s a peaceful mind.
@fabinulleins Habe den Buy einfach mal kopiert. Poste gern weiter deine Schritte.
