@Coleman48J I can’t believe that they are trying to get us to pay for the safety harness used in the remedial work through the service charges when it was agreed that they would pay for the remedial work. They see us as mugs
🚨 Many shared owners find out they can't sell because they can't extend their lease.
Housing associations knew about the risks, but shared owners were not warned.
@CMAgovUK@mhclg when will this mis-selling be investigated?
The problems with our housing market go beyond number of units. Building more alone does not address underlying issues.
Shared Ownership should be a middle-ground to help people get a foot on the ladder but as a model it is broken and needs fixing.

@north_residents@MetTVH@AngelaRayner@mtpennycook They weren’t interested when the painter trapped some of us inside by painting them whilst shut so why now when they are getting replaced anyway
❌ Every night 600,000 people go to bed in dangerous buildings, with flammable cladding & other life-critical fire safety defects.
Unfortunately, your Government has no coherent plan to get these buildings fixed. We're told all we'll get is a 'plan' by 2029.
Not. Good. Enough.
@Keir_Starmer How about compensation for living in unsafe buildings all this time? Shared ownership was supposed to be affordable housing. It’s not that now and we have bought into dangerous buildings. Miss selling.
"Fixing all flats with flammable cladding will take until 2037 — 20 years after the Grenfell Tower fire — and is likely to cost £16.6 billion, the National Audit Office has found."

Fire sales, people going bankrupt, insurers profiteering & govt turning a blind eye on the human cost of the building safety crisis.
Meanwhile, cladding manufacturers are making huge profits selling new cladding for remediation projects.
Is this the 'growth' Labour want?
I still find it shocking I’m more protected buying a washing machine than I am from buying a flat.
If my washing machine has a manufacturing default, I get a new one… if my flat is defect, tough. You’re stuck in it, unable to sell and trapped for life.
@FreeLeasehlders
Misinformation. If I buy a car I own it and if I lease a car it’s a short-term contract. Aspiring flat owners don’t have that choice in 🏴🏴 they’re forced into a lifetime tenancy with ownership liabilities
@CommonholdNow
Leasehold is the right to occupy 100cu.m of air for a fixed time. It is not owning anything. And often comes with hefty and unregulated annual charges.
“property owners face huge bills when lease due to expire”
And people wonder why we aging freeholders are reluctant to downsize/rightsize to flats to liberate a house for a family? Fundamental reform of leasehold rip-off should be a no-brainer for govt. https://t.co/fALGlm4HB4
@SHAC_Action@ObserverUK@JonUngoedThomas@AngelaRayner@mtpennycook I used to own a leasehold flat.
The management company was always demanding money for maintenance and repairs. On every occasion, the leaseholders got ripped off.
Property management? Legalised crime more like!!!
