Gaza, meanwhile, has community enforced by a siege. Families of 4 are considered small. Do the math. If there are 8 brothers and sisters and they all have 4 kids or more, you have 32 first cousins, lots of aunts and uncles and your parents. That's your immediate family. Take it out to second cousins and you're easily into the hundreds and because of the siege you all live in the same area. The inability to imagine this is a striking retardation of thought/empathy in so many western minds that there must be something about our atomized culture that breeds it.
