The most ludicrous thing about college sports is that the universities don't have to cater to their tax-base at all. Case in point - Fresno State (California State University at Fresno) could field a team of nationally ranked high school kids at every weight class from schools within 10 miles of campus. Zero interest.

Top 25 kids within 10 miles of campus:
106 - 3
113 - 2
120 - 1
126 - 2
132 - 1
138 - 1
144 - 1
150 - 1
157 - 0 (but one 40 miles away)
165 - 0
175 - 0
190 - 1
215 - 1
285 - 0

A college decision is a 40 year play. D-2,D-3, NAIA and Juco have many amazing opportunities to wrestle and get an education. Find the fit that is right for you. So many great opportunities outside D-1.

We get these two duals tomorrow and some people out there are going to try and tell you this event is bad for wrestling…

My Response to
US Marine Col. Krugman

Where was this “leadership” when Marines were bleeding out at Abbey Gate?
Where was that “war-fighting mindset” when 13 of our own 12 Marines, a corpsman, and 40 more wounded, got left exposed by political games and cowardly decisions?

You don’t get to wait until retirement to find your courage. Real leaders speak up in the fight, not after the smoke clears and the paychecks stop.

Where was that energy when the Corps was being forced to take a political vaccine that sidelined Marines who refused it on principle or faith? Where was that voice when warriors were being purged for standing on conviction?

Don’t preach about “standards” now. The Corps’ backbone was built by men who held the line under fire not those who hid behind policy and found their conscience when it was safe.

The Marines at Abbey Gate showed more integrity in one minute of chaos than most staff officers showed in twenty years of PowerPoints.

You don’t fix the Corps by resigning in protest. You fix it by leading by showing up, taking heat, and making sure the young ones under you come home alive.

So spare the speeches. We’ve heard enough from the ones who talk tough when it costs them nothing.

Thankful for what Coach Dickinson, his wife Tanya, and the All American Training Center have done for Alaska wrestling.

Now it’s time to push for at least one men’s & women’s college program in Alaska so future wrestlers can chase their dreams right here at home.

It’s with great sadness we share the passing of Oregon wrestling legend Bill Nugent. Bill was an NCAA AA, U.S. Open champion, and World cup silver medalist. More importantly he was a loving father, husband and friend. He will be missed by many. https://t.co/4DCRWZYFts

@WOUPresident we need to do this at Western! It drives enrollment, it’s low cost, and it will produce extremely needed teachers and coaches throughout Oregon.
