A corpse does not reach for medicine.
A blind man does not admire light.
A heart of stone does not choose God.
Something must happen first and that "Something" is REGENERATION(The quiet, sovereign act of God where He makes a dead heart live.)
“Men are never duly touched and impressed with a conviction of their insignificance until they have contrasted themselves with the majesty of God.”
— John Calvin
Jesus taught me to love medicine again.
I never imagined myself becoming a medical doctor in high school. Even in medical school, I struggled to love medicine. I had quit medicine never to return after a year and half into medical school in 2015. My heart was in the humanities and theology. However, I made a return in 2017 to complete it for the sake of finishing the studies. Not fully convinced about it.
It wasn’t until residency that things changed. The Lord broke me, humbled me, and helped me see myself in my patients. I began to love medicine so deeply that I can no longer imagine myself without it.
Just two days ago, a medical officer told me, “You were born to do medicine.” I broke into tears. A year ago, around this same time, a senior told me the same thing: “You love your patients.”
Jesus taught me to love medicine by helping me see myself in my patients. He taught me to love and honor His image in people.
It’s all about Him. He created them. He is the Great Physician. We simply walk after Him.
