Why am I just only *now* discovering the existence of Wite-Out correction tape? This is the most amazing invention ever—after what, 36 years of writing?!
@xtinehlee Tell Me Everything I Don’t Remember was immense inspiration for me to keep writing (and continue pursuing) my own health-healing journey, @xtinehlee. I trust you have many more books in you! p.s. Might you ever teach or mentor memoir writing again? I’ll keep stalking @Catapult…
@rgay It was so hard to take Sam at all seriously wearing that outfit, but his words to The People after Carly was taken down pretty much made up for it!
I still can't really believe that the #1619Project will become a docuseries, and I'm just so honored to be working w such amazing partners as @oprah@RogerRossWill@Lionsgate to bring this work to even more Americans. Grateful for @NYTmag, especially my ride or die

In early February, Ancestry announced that they would be re-indexing U.S. probate records to include every name mentioned. This is incredibly important as the initial indexing only was done for the person that died & sometimes their executors. #Genealogy
Just found out that the parents of my brother's best friend both contracted COVID (after being vaccinated) & died within an hour of each other in the hospital. Both my brother and friend tested positive as well, but thankfully aren't displaying symptoms as of yet. Heartbreaking🖤
“When people think of early recorded sound...they tend to think of early American jazz music....We’ve been told...that those are the primary performers & performances to revere, but every country had their own roots musicians, their pop bands, their entertainers & troubadours.”

Kindness matters.
But kindness does not = justice.
Civility counts.
But calling for civility is not the humane response to injustice.
Justice is.
Love is essential.
But love is not a passive, weeping bystander.
Love puts in the work.
Here is the “Foundations of Black Women’s Studies” syllabus template (BWST 101). This open access Doc provides instructors/department chairs with a guide to develop an undergraduate or grad level core intro course. Hat tip to prior curriculum creators! https://t.co/J7BY4xW0Yn
Thank you! I would be nowhere without the women whose footsteps I dance in. While reciting my poem, I wore a ring with a caged bird—a gift from @Oprah for the occasion , to symbolize Maya Angelou, a previous inaugural poet. Here’s to the women who have climbed my hills before.
I'm thinking of doing a 1.5 hour zoom class on Black Food, Black Resistance and Black Joy, for #BlackHistoryMonth anyone interested so I can make up my mind?
