@Theleaguemag I think if they were a great side they'd have won it, but that isn't the narrative. Truth is they had 6 truly great stars who scored wonderful goals for fun (Junior, Falcao, Cerezo, Socrates, Eder, and Zico), but the rest were average.
Romania in '94 for me.
@HLTCO They are such an insular country, and football is still becoming popular there. It's making good ground on American football, basketball and, in a couple of southern states, cousin fucking.
@_ChrisLepkowski@curtiswoodhous8 Of all the shit spouted on here this week, this will be the shittest. Many players have been overrated, but Robson...no, absolutely not. A giant of a player in so many ways.
@stusfootyflash The BBC haven't even bothered with presenters on a couple of the overnight games, having the commentator doubling as host...NZ/Iran was one with Alistair Bruce-Ball on comms and hosting by talking over FIFA's TV feed.
@Mexico86HQ Always wondered why 5 Gp D matches were in Guadalajara and 5 Gp F matches were in Monterrey, but for the Spain/Algeria and Morocco/Portugal matches they swapped cities. Could it have been to move Algeria a long distance from Bra/NI following the disgrace of Gijon. ๐ค
@JoeDubh@stusfootyflash Against Holland, more of a low cross that curled straight in...disallowed as it was an indirect free kick...vaguely recall someone almost getting a toe on it.
@AndyBodfish Those Italy matches in Rome are a vivid memory...must have been 70,000 flags being waved throughout each game...it was some sight...๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐น
