I just received my very first royalty payment.
Sure, it wasn't very much, and only a fraction of what I have invested in the production and marketing of my books, but hey...
I JUST GOT PAID... FOR WRITING! 😃
Don't buy my books. They're probably haunted. You'll get ghosts, maybe. Do you really want to chance that? I mean, you'll be emailing me at 3am, talking about how your house is possessed and honestly I don't have enough coffee for early morning chats like that. Save yourself $12.
@EKTwrites The universal rules vs. your personal rules vs. editor's rules vs. rules of "the times."
This tweet spoke to me. And geez, has any of these crazy rule people taken a look at a classic? None of their rules seem to apply.
Writing “Rules”
“NO!”
Cut the exclamation point
“NO,” HE SHOUTED
Just use said
“NO,” HE SAID
Isn’t he mad?
“NO,” HE SAID LOUDLY
No adverbs. Use action tags
“NO.” HE HIT THE TABLE
On purpose?
“NO.” HE HIT THE TABLE WITH FURY
Can you simplify?
...
“NO!”
... Nice
@CinaedhVik To each their own! I like to think of editing as ironing out a terribly wrinkled shirt. It's clean and washed, but still a mess. And it looks so GOOD folded and neatly put away.

@QuillQuestions None. I'm not nearly interesting enough to be a character. I like to make characters who I'd definitely never get along with--it makes conflict so much easier to write.
After more than a year of writing during my lunch break at work, I have finished and edited my second novel. Now I can take a short break before the cycle begins again.
